If you want to talk to the devs it would be much better to visit one of the player gatherings with Devs or much better the fanfest later the year. (Just got an idea for an important post ...)
E3 is all about marketing, tight schedules, interviews, showing off what you might have. It is a different situation. --*=*=*-- Megadon CCP wanted a well known artist and celebrity to test the new font so it's approval would be well known. They got Ray |

A couple of you went from 'Pilot, Respected for defending their opinion in a fair way.' to 'Zero Tolerance Asshead posting drivel without engaging Brain 1.0'. Bravo!
In real life, we have sports and war. In EVE we have war - and a couple of people who would like to have ingame sports too.
How far would the sportive PvP impact the 'True PvP' outside of concord protected space? Wow! It might even be used to pass the time at the gatecamp if it was accessible right from your ship in space.
Go to the test server for fooling around or having fun for an hour or two with frieds that might happen to live some 80 or more jumps away? Licking my doorknob is more fun because it doesn't go offline or have an incompatible patch.
Now hurry back to your gatecamp so you do not miss the next rookie exploring EVE's vast amount of systems. Or turn over your hulk while you're mining some ice for your Alliance leader's POS and his Dread. --*=*=*-- Megadon CCP wanted a well known artist and celebrity to test the new font so it's approval would be well known. The 'instant-gratification type pvp' your 'opponents' are defending as the one and only way to do it in EVE is wait at a gate, preferably with a bubble or 6 to get a cheap gank.
They fear that their random prey and nulsec wannabes might gain some skills in simulated battles and come in prepared. And what they fear even more: with some skill under their belts those Newcomers will be a threat to the Lowsec inhabitants they are. Some of them are the same people that voiced their opinions against more ways into Lowsec and Nulsec because it endangers their warm and fuzzy nests because their alliances had to spend more manpower at system protetion, scouting and cleaning out invaders.
They didn't even read far enough to understand that you're asking for a quick and easy way to test your power against others that doesn't include the horribly annoying so called politics or cheap ganking without taking away the Alliance and PvP part of EVE. --*=*=*-- Megadon CCP wanted a well known artist and celebrity to test the new font so it's approval would be well known. WOW fails at PvP because WOW was not developed with PvP. WOW PvP is ridiculous because it is highly depending on a few factors that the alltime lag in WOW makes it much unfun. At least it did when I tested it.
Combat in EVE would be as much fun if you actually had to aim manually (plus the fun of losing all you have). The technical differences are miniscule if you cared to think about it for 5 seconds.
Lets come to the contructive part. How do you go for the instant gratification PvP when you have a mere hour to play until you have to leave? You'd go to the next lowsec and do some belt pirating in a throwaway ship? Remember that the imbalanced4 starts at the position of 'Go away with sucky politics. I have not the time to do it in EVE for weeks.'.
I remember the fun I had in JumpGate. The simulator offered many fitting options, and you jumped in with your current ship. If you didn't had the time to hunt down a pirate or other opponent, you could call anyone anywhere and ask for a quick session in simulator x. Run the gauntlet, laugh about it, maybe learn something new about your ship, your weapons or about a tactic you didn't test before. Innocent fun, the quick and dirty way. And it did not touch the fun outside the simulator. And it helped bringing unexperienced into the PvP part. --*=*=*-- Megadon CCP wanted a well known artist and celebrity to test the new font so it's approval would be well known. They got Ray |
