Edited by: Ventosus on 20/05/2006 21:39:47 Story short> Our Enemy was attacking some POS in our base system, we went in and took down an Amar Carrier.
We lost 2 domi and 1 geddon, in this operation.
We thank CVA for once again giving us a good time, and honour them as respectful and a very good opponent.
p.s. This was a combined operation between x13 and our friends in Cosmic Fusion.

Put up a POS to tempt us.
Had a fleet of BS with LOTS of neutralisers/NOS logged off in the system (for several days it seems)
We attacked the POS
They logged in at SS and warped in. My Carrier ran out of cap in about 30 secs while being shot at by the POS *OUCH*.
Our support arrived but was too late.

We have had an official war with x13 for about 2 1/2 weeks.
They have been one of our better opponents. We under-estimated them at first and they got some easy kills at the outset of the war.
We wised up and turned the tables somewhat winning a number of smaller engagements and generally chasing them around our space.
Then last week they kind of dissappeared off our rader and we assumed they had got fed up being hassled by us and had buggered off (as many of our opponents do) - but it seems we had understimated them again
Strangely just this morning I was telling someone that they would make good additions to MC as they are pretty good Empire fighters and reminded me of when we fought The Corporation just before they joined MC.
Apart from a couple of champion smack talkers they have proved to be a resourceful and clever opponent - so kudos to them.
However, they will be cleansed in the holy light of our Amarrian lasers!

I agree about the above, except that i dont feel like we have been "chased" around. Off course when fighting "numbers" and even with your agressive style, one have to think twice before doing anything stupid. Also we had a couple of incidents where locals (your NAP's) also engaged us in the middle of battles, so it was kinda hard to calculate at sometime, who would engage us.
But it has had is very fun moment.
We won some, you won some. CVA has proven themself to be very good fighters.

yeah 6 dreads tanks better but what if the 2 carriers cant fly dreads
in any case i would bring all the capital ship i could get, carriers or dreads but ofc for shooting a pos id prefer as many dread i could get.

The real question is why shoudnt all the cap ships stay down together when fighting a small corp that couldnt muster more than 10-15 pilots at that time the most.
According to their buddy list we only had 1 or 2 pilots on and with 25+ support in the area we werent a threat. Just another pirat POS to kill.
But yes - They have learned from this and so have we.

A fair summation. For the previous week x13 had only been seen in small numbers - maybe 1 or 2 pilots at most.
We had around 25 other support ships with the 6 Capitals. The support was covering the 3 gates into the system in case of a counter attack and we had scouts out in neighbouring systems.
The carriers (yes Archons) were with the Dreads at the POS as meatshields soaking up some of the POS fire so that the Dreads had it easier...
What we hadn't counted on was the fact that x13 had actually been planning this since we smashed their other POS in the system the week before and had actually seneaked pilots into the system in the right setups and then had the patience to log them off at a SS near the POS to wait for a CVA attack.
In a way we were lucky and in a way they were lucky.
From what I am told they had expected us to attack today (on Sunday) and had actually planned to have more BS ready and logged off in the system for that attack. In which case it is very possible we might have lost more.
On the other hand our we actually had no formal plans in place to attack the POS at all so x13 and their friends in Cosmic Fusion may have spent a week logged off in the system waiting for an attack that never came.
We had actually arranged another pirate POS busting the same evening. That went exceedingly well and it went into reinforced earlier than we expected. It was at this stage that someone suggested hitting the x13 POS while we waited for the other to come out of reinforced - this giving x13 their opportunity.
All in all it was a very good trap and I admire x13 for having the patience to pull it off - and yes - we have learned some very good lessons from this. Primarily never ever understimate an opponent or the lengths they will go to to get a kill
BTW I am still accepting donations for the 'get Hardin a new carrier' fund. I only had the damn thing for 5 days

That depends wether or not you are infront of your screen while doing it. In our case we had all shared phone numbers for this to work and only 3-4 where actually home.
So when message beeped that the fun had begin most of us raced home and logged in.
So log-on can be discussed.
It cant be a log-on trick when we havent been playing for some days 8). We just got a call for action and went for it.

It would be an exploit but CCP cant control when and where you log off.
Using tactics like this are very lame and I just lost what little respect for x13 I might have had. If I lost the carrier I would sure as feck petition it because X13 themselves admitted they purposefully logged off to make this happen.

Gettings such a gang logged off for days just to kill one sounds pathetic to me. Add that using loggin/loggoff mechanisms isnt a glory trap but a lame trap.

I really cant see the lameness of teamwork?! Speaking for my self, I came to the system just the day before, we was sure that the pos was to be attacked on sunday - but CVA was faster than exspected, and the show started on saturday. I know for a fact that most of us came to the system just the day before. Here comes the teamwork: We had a phone chain for the gang obs, and everybody began calling around when the pos was attacked. Well, we only managed to get hold on half the force we where expected to use on sunday, and therefore was a little unsure of the outcome, but we knew we would take down atleast one capital ship. Everybody began to log in, and after 10 minutes we all joined up on af common safespot and the gang aligned. We wated 5 more minutes, to be sure the capital ships where en siege (no escape) and then warped in and attacked. The rest af common knowledge. If you call this lame tacs, then you got something wrong .

Quote: Gettings such a gang logged off for days just to kill one sounds pathetic to me. Add that using loggin/loggoff mechanisms isnt a glory trap but a lame trap.
First of all, you should read the thread. We wasnt logged of for days as CVA said - thats a lie.
Second of all, we had our spies in system, we had a couple of members in system. CVA knew our covert was there etc etc.
When we was on the testserver testing stuff, we was alerted and logged in, now? is this an offence?
We got the carrier, CVA reckonised this as beeing good sports as they are.
When we logged in, we had 11 ships vs 30
They had no support around they capital fleet, aint our fault is it?
They would have pwned us if they had played right.
our login was not everyone who logged in a few seconds, it was spread over several minutes. it takes their support 30 seconds from the sport they where at to goto their capital fleet.
Unless CCP makes it forbidden to log in when a pos is under attack, you should blame the game not the player.
and another thing. We always log at safespot, which we also did this time (well expecting a capital fleet to arrive we fitted a bit diffrent)
And why should our corp (many of us knows eachother reallife) not call eachother when our assets in under attack??
Now.. we played the game, they had plenty of time to react and get thir support in position, they didnt, even when they could see local was growing.
I bet B0b at some point also get hold of members on MSN and stuff to get them ready for some blob operation somwhere, everyone knows that happens, or even on teamspeak! stop crying about this and making yourself look ridiciolus.
it was apx 5 minutes after we logged in we attacked, even their dreads had not disablet siegemode..
WARNING: x13, will at any time protect our assets! If not online, we might call our commander and assamble a fleet to strike back on any agressors. So wipe your eyes, buy a covert and get proper support to the fleet.
Thanks x13 ............... We will win Eve
