As a minmitar pilot I do not put much weight in the asthetics of our ships, but the difference between Mr Choo Choo Cyclone and OMG-TEH-SEX-I-NEED-SPINNERS tier two BC is fairly striking.
At the same time people are pointing out that BC are way to damn sluggish (bc agility thread) and need help.
So, I am getting the fealing that the two ships will be sorted out into a pocket battleship (existing hulls) and a sort of lighter, faster pursuit-battleship (new hulls). This pursuit ship will probably have a BC sig radius, but with much better speed/menuverability. Perhaps lower the gun slots for more meds/lows? I dont have a clue how to balance it ;).
This leaves the niche of a med-gun gunboat for the existing hulls, while creating something different isnt just another Battlecruiser with another tier level and more stuff. Since most of the BCs are fairly flexible on which of the "racial" weapons you use, creating Just-Another-BC would be very redundant, and generally defeat the purpose of making a new hull in the first place.
I dont really care what they do with the new BCs I will still get the mimi-Tr2 BC and fill it up with Alcohol, Exotic Dancers, and all my Freed Slave buddies. i66.photobucket.com/albums/h279/Einhanderz/Sig.jpg[/IMG]

God I sure hope so, if they any bigger/slower/ungainly itll be worse than flying battleships. ----------------

While I don't think they should be as sluggish as battleships, I don't think battlecruisers should be nearly nimble as cruisers. I haven't really flown a battlecruiser in a while and if I did it would be a Ferox (which I'm sure is sluggish as all hell anyways) but honestly if they became pretty agile ships it would kind of kill the purpose of heavy assault cruisers and cruisers in general. ------ FPDOMS MINER KILLBOARD |

Problem is, they are VERY sluggish. Their agility modifier needs changing so they don't handle like battleships with propulsion mods or hull mods on them.
As for the Tier 2 Minmatar, all I can say is that it's one incredible looking beast.

See? Look at that sig, if that isnt fast I dont know what I will do with my life. I mean it has FINS and its AERODYNAMIC it just has to go fast. The blood raiders need to get a few, just for the purpose of painting them red with the blood of their enemies, if only to make it go even faster.

Does anyone know the exact agility multiplier of battlecruisers and for cruisers?

Edited by: keepiru on 21/05/2006 07:59:32 Jim, look in page 5 or 6 of the thread linked in my sig, Mr Rooflez put up the agility values and also did the testing for warp out times - IIRC, the brutix warps 114% slower than a thorax, while a the brutix-megathron difference is far, far smaller.
here you go:
thorax: 12.9 seconds brutix: 27.2 seconds thron: 32.1 seconds

having flown a ferox and a raven id say that the raven is actually move agile then the ferox it is slower but it will turn to warp faster ------------------------------------ fix eves industrial sector!

You mean that they might decrease the demand for HAS and cause their price to fall down?
Seriously, even if BC agility is improved it will never be comparable to the one of a cruiser, and cruisers still have a much lower sig radius and significantly higher top speed.
Currently a plated brutix take more time to warp from rest (19 seconds)than a megathron with 3 plates would.
As for the HAS resists bonus, and their much lower sig radius, that alone is enough to stay confident the HAS will stay usefull. For example, a Deimos can tank or evede fire from any serpentis or guristas spawn you can find in 0.0. Can a Brutix do the same thing? Even an Astarte would struggle more than a Deimos.

Bad comparison there mate, you can do triple 1.55m bs spawn in blasterix, and it smahes deimoses.
but thats because the fitting on the deimos is a ******* joke, its no fault of the brutix. ----------------

Yeah, but it might give people a real choice when it comes to something with more punch than a cruiser but not as sluggish as a battleship, other than a HAC.

Well if the current BC stayed the same, then they are still unique vs HACs. If the Tr2 BC become pursuit ships/ stabbers of the BC class, then how would TPTB balance them?
Perhaps make them have good speed and good guns, but less ability to fit a tank? Perhaps give them enough PG to use the 1st tier weapons of a class (d180 AC/ 650 arty) then, like a destroyer, limmit their ability to fit secondary mods?
for instance Mimitar t2 BC could look like this:
8 highs (6g/2m) 3 meds 3 lows
900pg 350cpu base speed 300 m/s BC sig/sensors + more agility, but still lower than a cruiser/hac
2000 Shields 2000 Armor 1000 Structure
Bonuses: x% bonus to speed per level 10% bonus to medium projectile weapon damage per level Some faction specific bonus? increase
Its got the 8 guns that makes BC's stand out, and a Straight line speed of OMGWTF, but it has the Sig of a battlecruiser and a limited ability to tank, and still cant turn as fast as a cruiser. Lowish PG makes fitting a full rack of larger guns and tank much harder to do than something else. How about it?

Seriously, an imperial star destroyer like the tier2 minnie BC is everything else than agile. 
But I also hope it will be super good. I fell in love with the concept art.

What I find fairly amusing with the new design is that it is one of the few minmitar ships to not have an odd "bridge" structure that juts outs the front of the ship or is completely separated from the main hull of the ship in someway. Youve got the slots all wrong btw, tier-2s will have 18 slots, and this ship seems to be a 8-4-6, 7 turret 3 launcher.
As for the star destroyer comment, its got sweet f.a. to do with starwars, this ship was blatantly wipeout-inspired. ----------------
