Very roughly defined someone who is against the mainstream, whether it is justified or not. In this context I use the word because a lot of players me included detest the way some of the old ship models like, particularly ships like Moa and Osprey. You seem to generally prefer the old ones so I used that definition.
You cannot argue against taste of design since this is highly subjective, however I can at least say that the decade old models were designed with more limited technology than we have today. The new models have a way higher polygon count and way more details than the old ones, (which you cannot say is bad) coupled with a look which seems to follow newer sci-fi art design, like in Star Citizen or maybe some newe sci- fi films.
If that is not to your taste I am very sorry but you have to move forward at some point if you want the game look more modern and appealing to new audience. I for one like it and CCP seems to think the same way since they want to redesign so many ships. |

Mordu's Legion ships are Caldari/Gallente
Caldari bonus will likely be related to Missiles or the standard 4% shield resists
Gallente bonus will be warp disruption range (like arazu, keres, proteus)
Role bonus will be related to missiles.
Mordu's Angels will be in apparently all of lowsec as a new pirate faction and the sites will drop the blueprints. GÇ£Die tryingGÇ¥ is the proudest human thing. |

Well, the F-22 isn't nearly as Angular as these things though, hence my comment about the F-117, as it's one seriously angular plane. |

Garmur Frigate A mechanical lobster thingy with feelers.
They all look pretty descent. The new Moa with the bird of prey look - not in Star Trek Klingons style, but like a real predatory bird with the curved beak and stuff - and the new Condor however were even better looking. They were absolutely gorgeous. Notification: Because I'm lazy, I have a tendency to post without proof reading. Cal/Min missiles/TPs would've made more sense IMO. Mordu's Legion is made of Gallentean defectors, and they work with the Caldari very often. They're mercenaries, and there's a fair bit of lore about them- especially in Templar One (read it- it's amazing )
Caldari+Minmatar would've been awesome, but this works just as well for me- and we still have a lot of options for the other factions! "A City made of Wood is built in the forest; A City made of Stone is built in the mountains; But a City made of Dreams....is built in heaven."

The frigate and cruiser look like Mass Effect knock offs and the battleship is just awkward. I like the matte color scheme, very intimidating, but the bodies seem to show little that would make one think they had any relationship to Gallante or Caldari culture.
While the new Moa is "cool," the Caldari ships continue to wander away from the basic premise found in the lore that the Caldari believe in functionality over aesthetic. Aerodynamics don't mean a thing in space. The 'phoon is a nice evolution. |

I bet you are one of those hipsters who found the old Moa to be looking good. I am so glad that you are not in the majority. I thought the Moa looked like some kind of combination of kitchen appliances. By the way. The sun is awesome. Gravity is awesome. The time/space continuum is awesome. These designs....are not awesome. Uh...what's a hipster? You on the other hand do not provide any argument whatsoever except stating that you find it bad. If that is not to your taste I am very sorry but you have to move forward at some point if you want the game look more modern and appealing to new audience. I for one like it and CCP seems to think the same way since they want to redesign so many ships. Also: you say this in the "ship redesign" post: #10 Posted: 2014.05.02 18:55 | Report Like ooooh. I'm a Typhoon zealot! I like this new design. A lot. 15/10 extra points for a nice surprise" How come you like the phoon and not the other changes since CCP is following more or less the same design doctrine? Wow! Very verbose! It's almost as though you said something...worthy of the bandwidth it took. You make assumptions left and right, but seem to present these as facts. Then, you say there's no arguing something as subjective as design...okay. Let's see. From what I've gathered thus far, Gallente is a form of Art Deco - reflecting somewhat the funny paper design of Flash Gordon...somewhat. Caldari was intended to appear birdlike and from what I can tell Minmatar is insect like. Amarr? Claws, talons, teeth. The phoon doesn't have any of those flimsy fins, a plus in believability. The designs I obviously dissed come off as cliche...like the cliche of a cliche. The NEW phoon design strengthens the look, IM (never) HO, but adds a touch of the Rokh, which I've always liked.
TL;DR ? the designs I dissed are cliche. Anyone with any sense has already left town. |

Not a fan of the Moa redesign. It's a nice design on it's own, if you're into symmetry. As a redesign of the Moa I personally find it a little disappointing. But I'm sure I'll cope with the new Caldari modified Firefly :)

I like these designs :) They combine the Caldari/Gallente design philosophies of rigid lines & curved surfaces very well.
Considering the LP store of Mordu's Legion has unique ECM modules, I suspect these ships might have some bonus to it as well (Mordu is the only faction offering faction -ECM, making it very expensive as they got very little agents)
Reading the announcement they'll expand the amount of agents (like they did with SoE) is a good move to increase their popularity. Gonna keep track of these ships as I'm a fan of E-war stuff! As an Aerospace Engineer, I can say that that video is absolute bollocks in a lot of the F-22's capabilities, especially about the communication and rain! (Although rain can have some detrimental effects to all stealth systems somewhat due to water's refractive properties). The F-22 is primarily designed for dog-fighting which never really happens nowadays but it does have a lot of ground attack and EWAR capabilities. It has had it's problems, although they are relatively low for a fighter of that caliber; if anything it is over engineered. They haven't been deployed in active warzone duty due to the fact they are not needed against the opponents that the US have been fighting recently, where cheaper and less risky assets have more than done the job. The cost is still pretty damn expensive though...
IMO I like the look of the frigate (although it does look a bit destroyer-y). The cruiser doesn't look too bad either, but the BS looks BS... I much rather see a BS based on the B-2 Bomber - http://www.airforce-technology.com/projects/b2/images/b2_6.jpg |

This here, is specifically the one part of the moa revamp that I agree with, however I believe that the new design overall is worse, because they went from something different and unique, following the Caldari style of being realistic, and not conforming to OCD aysymmetry, to now looking like just any other run of the mill mirrored ship design.
I liked the old style. Not because it's unpopular now, but because it had a uniqueness to it. I'd be all in favour of a complete change, as long as it maintained that distinct path away from symmetry, that crutch that CCP's art team has fallen on.
Oh. As for the ships in this thread; the frigate and cruiser look suite, the battleship, well for what it is, it looks stupid. As some sort of e-war or drone/fighter platform, maybe blown up as a carrier, it'd be pretty nice. |

I don't agree with "not fitting in Eve" design thing, because it is a faction which was not represented until today, so they bring a totally new design approach with them. Sansha for example also "does not fit" into Eve by that logic because they have spikes and no other ship in Eve offers something remotely similar. Yet no one complains. We have asymmetrical and vertical designs, now we get flat designs.
Also, once all the older ship models are redesigned, it won't look too diferent. Right now it seems that way because some of the old ships are made of like 100 polygons and offer nearly no detail in comparison, they look bulky with large areas of smooth surfaces, Dominix is a good example. On the other hand, ships like T3 and redesigned covert ops bombers look more like it.
Maybe I like them because they are remotely based on modern jet fighters. During fanfest stream the design dude said that he got his inspiration form the F22 and F117 - since modern jets are the awesomest looking piece of hardware humanity has ever made, I see nothing wrong with it. Better than looking like randomly thrown together piece of junk. Unusual design is not bad, but if it looks like **** and just for the unusualness sake, I rather take usual but good looking design.
I still remember when I started playing Eve I had to decide which race to pick, I would have ended up with Caldari, however exactly the ships that are being redesigned now, or were already, Raven, Moa, Osprey... made me choose Minmatar instead. Their ships had that Mad Max appeal and it was cool. Moa, not so much.
Something else, does somebody know already whether they will be shield or armor tanked or mixed?

As a "stealth" ship they should probably have the lowest signature radius of any battleship, although with all the launchers sticking out all over the place that kind of seems to defeat the purpose. I wouldn't actually mind seeing the launchers recessed or hidden on this class of ships. I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week. |

Update:
Mordus missile bonus:
"very large" missile velocity
Shorter flight time
overall range is increased
(source Mynnna on Twitter)
200% Velocity Bonus 50% Flight time penalty
To me it looks like its the same then if you cut the maximum flight time in half. |

Yes, but with the 200% bonus, you are flying 3x faster. This is as nice as I get. Best quote ever https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=4137165#post4137165 |
