I don't think we all start this game craving tears and pew pew. What happened in your eve infancy that made you the disreputable internet spaceship pilot that are today.
I was griefed by a ninja salvager in a lvl 3 mission and I'm sure my rage at the time fueled much laughter on the part of the perp. Then I came to the conclusion that being at internet space ass hole is alot of fun and why else play a game if you aren't having fun doing it. |

Same story, dont remember the exact event but I came to the conclusion that it'd be a lot more fun to be the boot than it is to be the ass. It turns out I was right. |

I wasn't griefed.
In the beginning life in eve was ISK, more ISK, even more ISK. Eve was mining-industry-trade. Eve became like a 2nd job. Boring I quit for w*w but didn't like it and returned. I quit for *v*rq**st II, but since pvp was not allowed at all there, I found it boring after 2 weeks, and came back I quit for ... euh what was the name of the new D*rk *ge *f C*m*l*t? ... boring, came back to Eve. More carebearing
Then, one day I was ganked.
To be specific: 1 Arazu orbitted at 40something Km, scrambling and dampening me. (I guess, since I could not warp nor target) 1 Manticore was busy killing me. Quite some time... He failed to break tank, but since I couldn't get away, he managed to get in a small army to help before I got support alts on spot.
This gave me the idea: ....hmmm, I can do that 2 :-) Ganking is more fun, and lucky I had my carebear years, I can afford it :-) |

i started eve wanting to be a "good guy" because i read in gaming mags how harsh eve is. after a week of running missions/mining and looking for a "good guy" corp i got bored.
i started stealing ore and giant cans from players, loved the **** talk i was getting, and i made 500 million isk in 3 weeks. then i managed to ransom my first mining battleship in a caracal after he attacked my badger.
now i play eve to make others quit

My first corp, The Professionals Club (TPROC) was in Fatal Ascension when they were CVA pets. I ratted in nullsec and chatted in corp chat for a few months till somebody accidentally gave me wallet access. A few days before,
I was out soloing in lowsec ganking other noobs when I ran into the Carebear Stare. I beat Reaper in a dogfight and he asked me if I wanted to join the corp. I was in a Fatal Ascension corp (this was mid-2009 when they were CVA pets) but this was getting boring so I started doing unauthorized "pirating" in lowsec.
A few days earlier, TPROC accidentally gave me wallet access, in addition to giving me access to our PvP hangar. I set up a badger alt and ratted up my sec status so I could warehouse my goods. After liquidating the TPROC fleet in a firesale and grabbing as much cash and T2 mods as possible, I slowboated out of Providence and applied to the Stare. Now banned from CVA space, I flew my pod to start my new life with my Carebear Stare friends.
However, lowsec was dissapointing. Most "pirates" simply ~goodfight~ other pirates and there's almost never juicy targets. I ended up joining Ushra'khan with some friends I met in the Passari pipe and that was fun, but mainly because I was with friends.
Real life caught up to me and I could no longer spend time getting ships out to nullsec, nor could I be on for 6 hour fleet ops...

Because I can.
Originally because the carebear corp I was in kept getting war decked and I realized I liked the pew pew side of things way more than I liked the missioning side of things. I started out flipping can miners to get a better feel for the aggro mechanics and basic ship flying and have branched from there.
There really is very little that is more satisfying than someone convoing you with a stream of curse words because you turned red. Except maybe the 5 mails that follow when they decide to shoot you and they lose the shiny space ship. |

I am a griefer because the society at large has labeled me so; otherwise, I would have some other label.
This is not my identity; it is not who I am; it does not convey any useful information about me as a person.
I am a griefer because it is easy and simple to apply a group label to a person based on group membership.
And it is much more complex and time-consuming to individually get to know an individual person.
The label helps people rationalize their behavior, and in turn it allows them to allocate their social resources.
I am a griefer because people are lazy. Sky Captain of Your Heart; Lyris Chronicles of Narnia in the World of Tomorrow's Goonfleet dot Com; Good Poster Extraordinaire and Spacebook Superstar : RIFTERSWARM Theta Squad : Best Squad |

The existence of the "other" is a powerful motivational tool for group cohesion, which seems not to work nearly so well in EVE Online as it does in real life except to congregate those people who wish to unite their complaints. In real life, fear of the "other" allows individuals to form cohesive groups for mutual defense, and provides a reason for group solidarity. This aspect of that fear is useful in that it helps to promote survival and minimize losses, but this aspect is sadly absent in the culture of EVE Online. Griefing is against the EULA. Shooting/scamming people and taking their stuff/money is not against EULA. Forcing them to pay you not to shoot them or take their stuff is not against the EULA. Forcing them to bow to your will for an in-game advantage or payout is not against the EULA.
If you see a griefer, please report them and make EVE a better place. |

Like others here have said , I started playing Eve because it was billed as a harsh game. I came to Eve straight from another well known MMO where everyone has to be nice to each other, an MMO that originally was challenging and fun but over the years (because of player whining and the need for the owners to make a profit) has become easier and easier until I felt there was little or no challenge left.
As I said, Eve was billed as a harsh game and pretty soon I knew I would fit in well.
I started small - ninja salvage to start off with, this produced many tears and satisfaction for me. Later I moved on to can flipping this produced the desired results too.
Now I'm quite happy to grief the griefers in my jet can mining bait ship and I enjoy all kinds of high sec pvp. Not so much for the tears anymore but because I can get a 1 v 1 in high sec, unlike low sex.
This alt is in training to become a ganker for the great hulkageddon event, this will be my first time suicide ganking and I am so looking forward to it

Although I loved the fact "anything goes" I actually joined the game with wholesome intentions.
This ended when I heard the first self-entitled highsec carebear rage-nerd flapping his lips about something. I think it was someone mining the same rocks he was.
I couldn't stop myself. I flew an industrial over to him, stole his ore, and laughed in his face.
My turn to the dark side, was complete. - "Do not touch anything unnecessarily. Beware of pretty girls in dance halls and parks who may be spies, as well as bicycles, revolvers, uniforms, arms, dead horses, and men lying on roads -- they are not there accidentally." -Soviet infantry manual, issued in the 1930's |

Sometimes camp Stranglethorn for half a day with Night Elf hunter. Game make me look like pretty Asian girl, make happy.
