Yes Yes, I say we give back to this poor man since he didnt win the 79th BIG Lottery. The guy has put in over 300million isk into the lottery!
By popular suggestion in the BIG Games Extra channel, many of us have decided to send him 100k isk! Do your duty folks! Support this proud evil fellow!

Think I kinda spured it on a bit (erherm alot) in channel as well 
and no OZ hasnt spent over 300M - Just for the record. 
It's more or less public knowledge how much OZ spends each time - Due to a past thread.
Just gotta find it so you can do the math - I wont spoil it here

I logged in to find my wallet richer than it normally is and thought "cool, some stuff sold", then i find a page of donations and was "what the fork?"
To clear up some misconceptions, I haven't spent 300mil on the lottery, I put 1mil in each week. I used to put in more, but figured I don't really need the isk, so it's more a support thing. All up i'm guessing i've put in about 100-120mil over the duration.
Sufficeto say, alltheisk thathas been sent to mewill be going in the next lottery, so I will have 5k tickets, but the rest will be a donation as per the lottery rules.
I appreciate the thoughts of everyone, but support the lottery, not me

Have you ever considered picking a different charity each week and making a substantial donation to them? There are hard-luck stories the universe wide and having run into my fair share of it, I think people in my position would be overjoyed if they were lucky enough that you decided to send them some isk. You could browse the forum as you normally do (assuming you do), pick one particular story and donate to the guy. Something humble and deserving or inspiring. Maybe someone took a navy raven into a fight he knew he couldn't win just to be brave or someone lost 500mil in a game crash and is not being disheartened by the whole thing.
It'd be a good thing for the community. Even more, there are so many ideas for things you could do with that much isk. You could give a donation to author of the best story you found in the story forum, for example. Something that would stimulate the community and extend the BIG lottery into more universal fields. It's something I would love to do but have never had the isk to do it. If I had a T2 HAC BPO or something and made a billion a day, you can be sure I'd give away a billion a day.

In effect the donations has to an excent done it's job - As it at least will have increased you chances of finally winning (in the next round)
Actually winning, and not so much the actual prize to be won, is what I think would matter most to people following the "OZ saga"  )

Absolutly an interesting thought (and yeah, I'd kinda like to be able to do that).
We are actually already doing it - In a sense.
Although less direct.
In as much, as we put more into the lottery (nearly) each week, than comes in via ticket sales (check the website to see)
So in effect we are giving some extra to someone every two weeks.
Doing it the way you suggest would ofc make it much more visible (and more direct)
But imagine the begger mails I'd end up beeing flooded with... (My inbox is struggling as it is...)
Not to mention the work involved in having to thrawl all the forums to find those stories (I dont read all of them).
Not to mention, I'd really hate it to be my decission to have to choose one over another...
And not least... Imagine the outcries of "'tis not fair, you should have picked me, instead of that guy - Youre an idiot... yadda yadda"
Oh and ofc... Theres all the scammers... I'm sure some of them would be able to write some compelling (but utterly made up) stories about their unfortune.
So while a compelling thought - Not really one I dare to tangle with.
Giving out a bit extra with the BIG Lottery is more 'comfortable' - Especially since it's Lady Luck who's doing the deciding of who gets the ISK in the end (and I dont think many have her EVE-mail )
