Seeing as you fixed some of the bugs like the lookup of high slot modules, is it possible that we get a small patch with such important fixes this week?
Keep up the good work on the bug fixing :)
Redundany? Pann? Tomb? Any eta on next patch?
just curious :) -- The worst thing you can do when suggesting a solution to a problem is to provide alternatives, people end up arguing the alternatives instead of implementing the fix. |

If they can get the memory leak curbed a bit then I would be really hopeful about seeing a patch this week...for some ppl the game has become unplayable.

I don't think we can wait another 3 or 4 weeks before the next big patch.
Every night since the last patch there has been a server reboot. And lots of bugs such as stuck guns, map problems, stuck chars/systems etc.
Lets hope we can get a small patch to fix bugs, new content can wait. Care to comment Dev's/Pann/Polaris.
Please ...

Glad to hear it, Lick. But please, don't let this: "delayed as needed." Mean 3-4 weeks so we can put it in the "Next big patch."
I mean it this time heheh.
That nonsense has to stop.
Sure add new features every 4 weeks or whatever, but bug fixes should NEVER wait for the "Next big patch."
Your reaping the rewards of that I think now...
I know your doing your best though, so please don't hate us for being unhappy that our favorite game is borked to hell and back, it's your own fault for making us fall in love with it in the first place ;)

Yeah, I like the bug fixes with the latest chaos builds. Definitely worth patching Tranquility for, that way TomB can get to work coordinating more new features.
Thanks for focusing on the bug fixing for a while :) |

How about fixing the roid problem this week?? Just manually respawn stuff for now. This should be priority one next to laggy client/servers. Your game is dying do to NO MINING.

Roid respawn will be fixed, according to TomB, when Deep Core Mining enters the game. ETA 2 weeks or so, from what I can tell.
Until then, get your megacyte and zydrine from recycling loot :) |

A roid respawn would be nice since it be 2 weeks atleast for Deepcore and i doubt it will work without a hitch

Please fix the problem with turrets locking up!
And PLEASE PLEASE just respawn the roids! Don't make us wait weeks for deep core mining, which will invariably be delayed or need bug fixes of its own.

I've got a fix for this listed in 1228 which we believe works. If you get the chance please try and check it out on the test server, to verify it really does fix the problem for you.

Some issues that could be included in the tiny patch? After the latest patch the following is bugged: - Have any of you noticed, no UI changes are safed anymore? So you have to change all your window positions+sizes after restarting EVE. Clearing your cache folder does not help. - Also the F10 map names+info is not shown when hovered over a solarsystem. - No folders are remembered in your P&P window after restarting EVE. - Shortcut keys are not remembered.
I allready reinstalled EVE from scratch, with no solution for these problems. So i guess all new players will face the same issues.
CCP or any player knows a solution for these problems?
Filled in over 12 bug reports concerning various issues, including these.
My gameing pleasure is seriously gone
Please help... (from an EVE player for over 4 months now)

Edited by: Casey Jens on 23/09/2003 20:19:23 While we're on the subject of please "fix this", how about fixing the windows rez wackiness.
Widescreen or different resolutions SUPPORTED by windows are NOT supported by this game. example: compaq x1000 widescreen laptop default rez:1280x800. try to find that one in eve's graphics menu.....it AINT. in prefs.ini you used to be able to change it, but that's not what works anymore.
You had this working just fine (evedude plus could change the rez ' no sweat. btw: RIP Evedude Plus....i luved ya.) And now it too is borked.

for thoughs of you that are calling for them to respawn all the roids. i say this the roid sizes is a symptom of the actual problem respawning would mearly solve the problem in the short term but we would end up in the same place again. so untill the problem is fixed join us in the fight against the invasion of the veldspar roids =) veldspar is a weed that choaks out the more valuble asteroids. ------------------------------------------------ nomad, vagabond, call me what you will. |

A small patch fixing a few things at a time sounds like a good policy. Only when new things are added to the gameplay do we need a big one. I say rather small and often, rather than the big bang approach.
Looking forward to the pacth CCP

Heck, its the big patch that caused all these bugs, or so it seems. We run fine for several weeks, and BAM big patch, bigger leaks, bugs etc, ctd, reboots on and on.
Hey, not slating the game, its nearly causing a divorce I play on it so much, but lets keep new features as features, and bug fixes for fixes. Daily, weekly whichever, but please have them working at least better than they were not worse!

Small patches (even daily!) that fix one thing at a time would be most welcome! I don't mind checking for bugs but usually I don't know the specifics of what to look for. How about this: Fix one thing at a time and tell us all what it is that you fixed (unless of course it's some kind of exploit you wouldn't want the specifics to get out about). I guarantee that if it isn't fixed or doesn't work correctly you will hear about it from us. After all the nasty bugs are fixed in this manner you can get on with adding new stuff. That's the way I would do it anyway. Your best bug hunters are the THOUSANDS of us on Tranquility. Just because something isn't reproducable on Chaos really means very little since the two systems are not the same in configuration in the first place.
We just need to know what to look for, one thing at a time. The shotgun approach is only good for.... well... introducing more problems. ------------------------------------------------ "The best defense is a dead opponent." - Avaton White

I know that, you know that, we all know that. Everyone says it, everyone believes it. Even my Great Aunt Hilda in Zimbabwe advises it. They have found penguins in the Antarctic that espouse the virtues of small regular patches. Um'Zak Thwekla, head of the Grey Aliens wrote a thesis on the advantages of regular patching.
The whole ******* universe screams it from the rooftops
Apparently there are a small group of indigenous Icelanders said to rebel against this philosophy. But that's just a vicious lie surely?

I help to manage a team of very hard working people, and in doing so work very hard myself with the aim of making sure that Eve is absolutely the best game it can be, so that we're all free to enjoy the gameplay to the fullest.
The nature of bugs is such a fix that a programmer believes may work, may not always work, and just because one person could make a problem happen and now cannot, does not mean that the problem has been eliminated for all.
The nature of management (in my view) is such that a manager must allow for a large degree of trust and respect for those that they work with. Only the foolish manager performs micromanagement and duplication of all the tasks of those that they work with to the detriment of the unique responsibilities of the position: displaying a lack of trust and respect by continually cross checking the work of those around them.
As importantly, the nature of customer service is that if I tell you that it's definately fixed, and you happen to find out that it's not when it comes to the released version, then I lose respect and trust, and gain instead an unhealthy amount of anger directed at me.
One of my team has marked down in the database we use that they can confirm that they've checked it, and cannot now reproduce the problem. I respect all of their abilities and trust that this is the case to the extent of our realistic abilities to check it.
As such, I don't think my statement was in any way unreasonable. I'm not going to sugar coat anything simply because it sounds better: experience dictates prudence in stating belief as fact. I will only be certain that the problem has been solved after the patch goes live and we recieve no more reports on it.
