In any case, if you watch the introductory animation to the game, it explains that Earth was pretty much forgotten about.
Most people in New Eden have no clue about the existence if Earth at all I would suspect. Which would explain why the minmatar assault frigate Wolf is "Named after a mythical beast renowned for its voraciousness" Now, more than ever, we need a dislike button. |

Or who knows, maybe the Amarr and Terrans would hit it off well, get an intergalactic bromance going on, lord knows it'd be hard to tell the difference between them. So when will the chaos gods and orkz visit New Eden after the EVE gate is back online? |

Or how most of the minnie ships names follow Norse Mythology for that matter.

You don't even need to read the lore, just turn the intro video back on edit: ok, beyond the B5 rip off, here is my theory: When the EVE gate collapsed, Earth was utterly wiped out. After so many years, New Eden developed as it did. At some point, about fifteen years ago, someone in New Eden developed a new online game based on old Earth. After running successful for five years, someone got it into their head to introduce WiS er I mean SIMS expansion into the game. And here we have been the past ten years, old simulated Terrans, in some backroom server in New Eden in a game most forgot about after Wi... er I mean the SIMS expansion was released. Our reality is a lie and EVE is real!
Then last week they decided to port that game off the minmatar platform and to a nice new clean Caldari platform. This caused all the Minmatars playing it to to take off their Daft punk uniforms one last time, and rage quit in a massive exodus to the biomassing self service station.

EVE's only legitimate ISK halving service. I have 500Billion to not give away. It's easy for you to double my money. Just send me some isk, has to be 100Mil or higher, and I will send you back half. I can't lose. One guaranteed winner every round. Do it now. |

That's because it wasn't ment to be. B5 was first supposed to have 5 seasons and the story considerably different (long story short, Sinclair would have led the war against shadows, THEN go back to the last war). O'Hare (Sinclair) was replaced with Boxleitner (Sheridan) and the whole "The One who was, the One who is and the One who will be" was invented. Then the series was supposed to end with season 4, that's why the Shadow War and Earth Conflict are resolved and we get "The Deconstruction of Falling Stars", an epilogue to the series - but then it was extended by another season, which didn't tie in to the original story at all.
Still, B5 has one of the best thought out overall story arcs to date, imo - it definitely takes the second place with my most popular sci-fi shows.
As for Earth - I hope we never find a way back to it. We should be able to figure out what the hell happened with EVE through clues and hints littering the New Eden, but we should never face Terrans or find out about their fate. |

It would be interesting if CCP brought Earth back into the picture as another playable faction .... Well, there are hints to it in the lore. For example, Jamyl I is speaking to someone or speaks to a 'voice' rather, which told her, to find lost terran technology, such as the Terran Shield Inverter utilized at the Battle of Mekhios. Use of this weapon is dramatized in this trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKdTJjDnYzEHer Abaddon is able to annihilate the entire elder fleet, using a shield inverter to cause their own shields to reverse-energize, collapsing into their hulls, then cascading across the entire fleet. Mind you this is technology that the Earth-people/terrans LEFT here, before the gate closed. Their technology, by now, would be so far ahead of us. At any rate, at some point they will come through again, or perhaps in the latest trailer "Prophecy", we are opening a gate back home. A lot of the questions about what happened to Jamyl were answered in the book 'Templar One' (it also opened more questions).
Spoilers -
Sleepers, Jove and that other group (whose name escapes me) were some of the last through the gate and were still in their colony ships when the EVE gate collapsed. This gave them an edge over existing New Eden denizens (who I believe dismantled much of their ships to start colonies) and their odd mix of society allowed them to survive. Skip forward a few thousand years and the Jove (and by extention the Sleepers who were their technological backers) have mapped and cloaked most of the debris around the EVE gate. This allowed the artificial Sleeper consciousness, 'The Other', within Sarum to direct her minions to the location of a 'Super-weapon'.
Apart from the actual piece of debris, Terrans/Earth aren't involved.
As far as I know, no-one has had contact with Earth, not the Empires, the Jove, the Sleepers or even CCP

Naomi hales account is accurate according to lore. Most of what is written previously is conjecture and speculation. Earth most likely was not touched by the collapse of the eve wormhole or the gate. This is because of the distances involved between earth and the other side I believe it was called Adam this was referenced in older lore. The Jovians and sleepers and the endu I can't recall there full name survived the collapse because part of the crews were in cryo after coming through the eve gate and settled in heaven. |

If you read Empyrean Age and Templar One you would actually know that during the emperor trials where she "died", she actually had a clone installed, but during the transfer a rogue AI that emerged from within the sleeper complex virtual machines (yes sleepers are actually long past humans that live in virtual worlds they created) merged with her mind. That is why the "voice" can take over on occasion, and why she frequently collapses. It's goal was something alone the lines of bringing about an army of enslaved using implants that were harvested from sleeper bodies (it's a really strange story).
TL;DR , Read the EVE books Empyrean Age and Templar One. There are no terrans mentioned save for the very vague reference of a terran station taken over by rogue drones. Apparently it was insanely massive but the book did not go into detail. A quick summary from the books though is that all races, the jove, the talocan, the sleepers, all were the dominant factions that survived the "dark ages" that the main four races (us) went through. During an unspeakable part of history even among the jove, something happened and almost all but the jove died off.
The Jove are what is left of the technologically unimpeded races from earth (no dark age of technology loss) but of course they were cut off from the sizable empire that originally drive all the tech and knowledge they came from (with the wormhole collapse). Realistically, the joves are about as close to terrans as you will get since they are the last remaining race that never stopped advancing.
Also a funny side note, the terrans were actually all space catholics, no joke, go look it up. ******* space Catholics man, and the Amarr based their religion off the fragments of what they could find from the terran religion. |

It's been far over a decade, it's been 18,000 years since we've heard from Earth. The joves have been hinted as trying to contact home though..... The EVE gate is actually not the wormhole. The wormhole was simply the means to get here, after setting up camp they started to use a massive star gate to bridge the two star clusters together. Whether this gate was stand alone and they were just stupid enough to think it was a good idea to put it next to the WH, or if the gate somehow piggy backed on the WH we do not know. What we do know is that the EVE gate is still in tact..... and functional-ish but there is a massive cloud of interference. Some sort of strong pulse of electromagnetic radiation still emanating from the collapsed wormhole I think? Regardless, Templar one mentioned the joves trying to use the gate to contact home, and I can't remember the details but I think most of their expeditions did not return through the gate, and the ones that did were absolutely CCP Guard style insane. |

Earth is on the other end of the known universe. Given the level of colonisation of the Milky Way before the EVE gate was discovered it's highly unlikely the entire Terran race is gone. Even if some doomsday scenario unfolded there's no way it could have killed everyone. But it's more likely that they are so incredibly technologically advanced, we'd **** our pants if they found us.
I think it would be interesting if we eventually got back in contact with Earth in the distant future. Not physically, but in the sense of low level radio transmissions that either side picks up from the other. Maybe somehow tied into the lore that comes with the player built gates in a few years. From there the lore around Earth could be worked on for years to come until both universes eventually meet for good or for bad. Who knows. Either way, it's an interesting concept to explore as long as it's spread out over a significant amount of time instead of a 6 month story arc.
Maybe a story arc that leads up to EVE's third decade anniversary in due time. My YouTube Channel - EVE Tutorials & other game related things! |

Not to mention it is unknown the repercussions the Eve Gate collapsing had on Earth, it could have devastated them more so. Not to mention the exodus plus the internal fighting that was going on could have caused them to slow their advancement down, or annihilated themselves. Doubtful. Reason: Voice speaking to Jamyl I, Terran Shield Inverters, etc. We don't have anything like a shield inverter that could wipe out a capital fleet in one shot. I haven't payed much attention to recent lore or novels. So I have no idea what you are talking about. Last I remember from a lore standpoint was that there was no contact post collapse. If you could link that would most helpful. Now that I think about it, I should really get the novels. E: Question to those that have read the novels. Is it vital to read Empyrean Age prior to reading Templar One?
Not "vital" so much as helpful, since Templar One happens after Empyrean Age (kind of like watching Empire Strikes Back before A New Hope).
As for Jamyl -- she's special, and not your "typical" capsuleer (the voices are related to the Apocrypha Event, and what was found on the other side... and that's all I'll say).

Seeing as most of the references speak of the "Eve Gate" collapsing, it goes to reason that the wormhole itself was named "the gate", and the structure was merely intended to keep the wormhole open, or was a primitive version of the stargates we use today (which generate a wormhole to launch us between systems). One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia |

From how I understood of the backstory, when the wormhole to the New Eden cluster was discovered, the scout ships that were sent through had a hard time actually traversing the wormhole itself, the massive gate structure that was constructed was as previously mentioned, to piggy back on the connection bridge of the wormhole and allow larger vessels such as freighters and colony ships through in relative peace.
The wormhole itself as far as I understand of the lore has no actual name, though people may have just generalized the gate and the wormhole together when it is mentioned that the "EVE Gate". However at least on our side we know that the gate looking structure is laballed EVE and is more then likely the actual EVE gate, and it was probably named such as to symbolise the entry into the garden of New Eden via the welcoming hands of Eve, now whether any of this is actually accurate is entirely a mystery.
Now in terms of back story, before the wormholes discovery it had been mentioned that an impending war was on the horizon, but the discovery of the wormhole brought hope that the companies and factions could harvest and exploit the natural materials as found in the New Eden cluster, which in turn managed to avoid the coming war. |

Talking solely in EVE folk lore here.
I would love to see CCP release the Jovians, and watch NPCs steam roll not only empire space, but also null sec. To watch as years of player work is undone by Jovians, and right before they begin to take the final amounts of space, a bridge is opened back to Earth and (with their much more advanced technology) Earth pilots fight back against the Jovians, along with, for the first time, all four Empires fighting together against a common enemy. The kicker? Capsuleers must make a choice, fight with your ancestors and take back what is yours, fight with the Jove and betray all that you have known, or make your own path and fight both, having your only allies be other capsuleers.
If you couldn't tell, I love storytelling. |
