People do flip the systems that don't have stations. I believe you are referring specifically to Vaaralen in this case, as we let you know to give priority to the alliance home systems for any de-plexing efforts as systems without stations cannot be taken by Gallente and used to stage against us. That was a strategic move, but by no means do we ignore the systems just to get more LP. If you were looking for 1v1 fights, de-plexing gets those fights. People in our corporation post kills all day just de-plexing Teskanen alone. IGÇÖve seen several kills posted just this morning.
There are plenty of fights in low sec, and as a solo pilot it's not unreasonable to get at least 1 non farmer fight per hour. You mention not wanting to plex, but plexing is a good way to control the fights and have them on your terms. Fit a brawling frigate, get into a novice plex and wait, and generally you'll find a fight.
While there are a lot of farmers yes, realize that in addition to all those farmers you are chasing out of plexes, others are doing the same thing looking for fights. Sometimes waiting nets you the fights you want. Otherwise, adjust tactics. Tired of farmers? Hunt some of them for the sheer enjoyment of slowing down their progress. Put 2 scrams on a Crow, a Nemesis, whatever, pick your poison, and kill them. ItGÇÖs like shooting fish in a barrel and can be quite satisfying while you are waiting for a decent fight. Additionally, if you are looking for solo fights you should ALWAYS look up your target on killboards prior to engaging. This gives valuable information, from whether they are stabbed (so you know if you should waste your time), fits, player efficiency, whether they mostly solo, etc.
As for 4+ "blobs", those guys are roaming specifically for fights. Both Gallente and neutral parties will generally agree to some kind of set terms if you try to arrange them for a fight, as that's the reason we all live in low sec. The PVP. It's really not a gank blob until you start seeing 20+. Anything below that is largely considered to be small gang skirmishing. You can also look in to up-shipping and soloing against them. A good cruiser pilot can take a few destroyers no problem depending on the skill of the destroyer pilots.
Replacing the ships can indeed be painful, but that's why you stage things in low sec and patrol near home. If you find yourself roaming far from your home system you may want to stage additional ships further out.
One suggestion is while youGÇÖre trying to figure out the good spots for fighting go join a fleet and get familiar with the area with the safety of numbers. At the time you were making these posts you were still in my corporation and there were no less than 3 concurrent alliance fleets out at a time doing various things from gate camping to roaming. The different systems all have different activity depending on the time of day. The map is also a great tool for figuring out where to go. Look at the number of jumps in systems. Look at 24 hour kills and 1 hour kills to get an idea for the activity in system. Look for recent pod kills to avoid gate camps and/or smart bombers. There are a variety of tools at your disposal to help you find fights, and the EU time zone is one of the most highly active times in Faction Warfare. Finding fights isnGÇÖt difficult, you just need more experience in knowing how to find them. That comes with time.
