Then the spreadsheets in Jita see the trend and if it sustains, and they follow. Heh. Always avoided Rens because it seemed inherently unstable and hence a waste of jumps. So it is just folks playing the same games on a smaller sale? Never looked close enough to notice. I'm more of a macro-econ type... |

Rens competes with Dodixie (and wins at certain things). It's near the front lines for the Minmatar Faction Warfare, not too far from a big lo-sec area, and generally has a good selection. Last time I ran the numbers (in terms of market cap) it was roughly:
Jita > Amarr = Dodixie = Rens > Hek / Oursulaert / etc
Amarr used to be a good bit bigger, but it seems to be drying up. |

Just fast trading ... stock is kept as low as possible. With 5 bill cash you could setup some small bulk orders (2 - 3 are fine) and update them in a row. If bought, instantly sell it by sell orders with minimal margin and spread out with different sell orders updating in a row.
Prices are going down slightly, so you could sell with a small loss if updated. Better sell with about 0.5% margin, thats enough to compensate the losses. |

I think multiple traders might create unnecessary competition on the buy side. But basically as long as you are pushing the spread down (i.e try to acquire at a price that is close to low and sell about 200-300k under the lowest offer and you are not losing money or losing only a little, you are ok). This prevents traders for profit from acquiring more stock and instills fear that they will not be able to unload their stock which also drives the price down. We might think about adopting some community trading policies but it's not exactly clear to me right now what they should be in order to work with uncoordinated group of traders. Main problem i see is if we have too many players then we'll create too much support.
Another interesting observation is that support is not real (bids or buy orders) while resistance is (in a sense that buy orders can be completely cancelled while all sell orders are backed by an actual PLEX since EVE doesn't allow short selling). There is a lot of fake support at around 480 right now but I think what i've been able to accomplish is drive the resistance down to sub-500 now. If the tendency continues, large holders of stock should panic and dump. |

Correct, you don't want to expose yourself to holding a large stock of PLEX otherwise you might fall victim to your own effort :) The goal is also to not lose a whole lot of ISK. It's a zero-sum game and if you are not winning, someone else is. You can't let others be winning otherwise it becomes unsustainable. |

Being stuck with a massive stockpile of PLEX is fine. The only long-term trend for PLEX is up, and the price of game time has been rising consistently for the last half decade since the release of EVE Online.
PLEX will likely be at least 700m or so sometime next year, especially with the amount of ISK being put into the game via Incursions/etc. |

Holding PLEX is idle money, while you could be making 30% per month easily with ISK. I'm not even sure if it's the best "idle" investment. You might want to look into some other options for zero-work investment. |

Some brave men created a hitch at 463-466 but looks like the volume is thinning. Resistance might push through. As I said before, I think the potential upside is not very certain right now for buyers while significant losses are very very possible. I'd cancel those buy orders if I were you.
Also, I think EVE needs to allow short selling lol |

Is it even possible to do short selling. I would love to see that happen. Working on markets might actually become fun. Its just betting on a stock to go up or down, i doubt if this would be hard to implement. |

In real world short selling works like this: you borrow something from a broker, sell it and buy it back at a new price, then return it to the broker. If the price dropped you pocket the gain. In EVE nobody will lend you a PLEX to sell I don't think lol |
