Hey all, a warning about a long-time player by the name of Shemis.
Stole 70million isk out of the corporate coffers after running up a $13,000 dollar cell phone bill IRL and footing me with the bill.
And yes, I am interested in hiring mercenary/assassin types...cough...I mean ingame types.... ;)
He's not skilled in any way, loses ships constantly (in lvl 3 missions with over 14mil sps!), his skills are equally distributed among multiple ships, research, mining, industrial, hacking, etc, just thought he was a friend and apparantly is not...
I'd beware about giving him any kind of permissions, and definitely don't offer to replace his ships! If you'd like a contract hunting the guy down, evemail me! Sukar http://www.dndorks.com |

he worked for me IRL for a while, he lived with me for a bit while him and his kids needed a place to stay, I decided to get him a cell phone to help him find a job, then let him keep it on the family talk plan for over a year, then he suddenly ran up a 13,000 bill, stole 70 million isk from the corp, and finally left... Well the 70mill is nothing... But holly jeez, that cell phone bill. Talk about trying to help a guy out, and then getting raked over the coals for it.

Yeah, if he had asked for the 70 mil we would have just given it to him, at least prior to the IRL thing. Hiring people to go after him ingame is really just punishment for the IRL thing, hiring the people after that to punish him again will once again just be punishment for the IRL thing, then the people after that. So anyone looking for a contract? I hear hes looking to start visiting 0.0 for the first time and is hanging out in .1, anyone want to give him a nice warm welcome and make a bit of isk at the same time? You shouldnt be asking people in a game to help you recover 70mil isk but try visiting a bar and finding a few drunks that would be happy to put him in hospital for a long time til you get the 13k back off him.

if the phone bill was a result of his crimes ingame, i'd think about bringing this to the attention of some authorities. 13 thousand bucks isnt a small number.

I'm calling BS on this one.
No one loses $13,000 and comes to a message board for an online game to post a virtual hit in a non-agressive almost carefree post.
If this really happened to someone... there would be a lot more anger... and almost definately police involvement. And with police involvement the first thing they would request is absolute secrecy so they can go about working their case without the purpertrator leanring that he is being investigated and thus operating at a state of hieghtened alertness which would make their job more difficult.
Something just not all together with this post.
70M isk.... sure I can swallow that.
$13,000 on your cell ? Almost certainly not. Pretty sure any carrier would *STOP* service on any phone that started ringing up that kind of tab without a previous history of high billing and decent credit... for your own protection.

Quote 4TW. This post sounds like BS, and I don't mean that as an abreviation for BattleShip.

Edited by: Hey You on 27/05/2006 23:56:46 I was actually wondering about that too. It's either a joke post, or what I think more likely, someone trying to ruin someone's credibility. Is there any real evidence here? :(
Maybe the guy just stole the 70m in assets, and OP thought(Probably rightly) that that would be blown over, so he added a bit...more...oomph to his post? ------------------------------

A 13K phone bill is nothing if you happened to do work by the phone (ie. telephone sales or whatever).
Regardless, if it's true, you better off hiring some some real life people to bust his knee caps or *****his kids then to come to a forum.

How will getting revenge in a video game solve your problems? You should take him to court.

I have to say I don't understand really why there's a discussion about a strange 13k RL problem in this forum. Solve your RL problem by hiring a lawyer and solve your 70 Million ISK problem by hiring mercenaries if you want. If you start to mix you RL with virtual life it's also time to contact a psychologist. Honestly.

Not trying to fuel the fire, just a little FYI...
Cell phone companies (at least all of the ones I, my friends and collegues have dealt with) do not monitor accounts for non-standard usage. I know several people that have had monster charges on their cell phones and received no warning at all, apart from their bill. Some companies may now be offering this as some kind of service, either value-added or for a premium, but it certainly isn't standard.
And, depending on your plan, it is possible to accrue $13,000 or more in a single month. I've seen a bill for more than $8,000 that was racked up in three weeks by a fourteen year old girl.
That said, I'd still be a lot more ****ed off than the OP.

As a side note, what if this is a smear campaign against someone? There is no other evidence against this person except for one single post by the OP.

^ What he said is totally true. It is very easy to rack up several thousand in "overages" in the span of a month. Whether or not it happened here remains questionable, but the only way to prove it would be to show us the bill or something, but even then, it's not necessarily something we need to see in the first place, it's something the authorities should deal with. However, if he is indeed the ******* you make him out to be, I have no issues violently removing him from his pod.
