So far I have received two missions from my Level 3 Agent which exceeded my Thoraxes cargohold (265.00 w/o expanders).
Is this unlucky, or common? Should I invest the ISK in an Industrial ship for these missions? What are your experiences with cargo sizes for level 3 agent missions?

I've gotten 300m3 from lvl 2 agents, thanks for the heads up though
... you will see more and more marketing which in turn will bring you more players to torture. |

That's what Courier missions are for. People are extremely willing to move 300m3 5 jumps for 1 million ISK. 
Your 425mm Prototype I Gauss Gun perfectly strikes some nublar, wrecking for 1155.0 damage. |

I had an Awesome (+18%) Level 2 Agent and never received cargo above 50m3 - perhaps Agent Quality affects the size of cargo loads you are expected to run?
My level 3 agent is only Average and so far has been taxing my cargohold quite a bit!

I just had to move 250 cap booster 25s... which was 2 loads for my moa if i fit an expander 
this was the second time i have had this mission in 2 days.

whit a lvl 3 agent you need 3 ship's a shuttle for small cargo a cruiser to fight and a indy whit mwd for the large cargo

I have a common lvl 3 mission in which i have to transport 240 Capbooster 25's across 9 gates. It takes up a little over 400 cargo space but with one Basic Cargo Expander on my omen i can do it in one trip.

my 'good' agent 3 (she is a *****)
gave me a 750m3 mission.... I had to load a large cargo container in my Megathron to do it...
remember, cargo containers are your friends (+20%).
If you are in a cruiser = use cargo exps... you are slow, but mount 2 mwds and that is the fastest way to travel.

Can you explain how Cargo Containers increase storage? Do they not take up as much space as they hold?

Yep, that's your answer - get some good nanofibers if you're slightly too low or some expanders if you're a bit more. You could even...use a ship with a bigger hold
As far as cans are concerned they give you more space than they occupy (eg the smallest 'secure' one is 100m3, but gives you 120m3 of capacity) - total rubbish if you ask me, but it's how they work.

Fitting one cargo expander on my maller fixes any cargo capacity trouble agents might give me

i often get to move 120 Python Mines (600m^3).
but it fits into my rupture when equiped with 5 basic expanders.
no police, no summons, no courts of law;

cargo containers hold 20% more than they take up.

My "Average" L3 agent gave me a mission last night where the cargo volume was 550 m3.
Of course, this wasn't a problem as I do all my missions in an Iteron Mark V decked out with burners and overdrives.

In response to my Agent Quality --> Cargo Size theory, as my Level 3 Agent's quality has increased a bit, I have started to notice a marked decline in the size of the hauls she is asking me to run. The last one was 20 Holoreels. Not bad compared to 816 Frozen Food.

Worst I've had was 240 wheat - Exceeded my Thorax's 265 by 10 units.
Only mission I've had so far that exceeded my cargo without expanders.

ok seriously am i the only one useing a BS to run missions?
Scorp w/ 4 nano fibers and 1 mwd and 3 ab's = 0 to 1500 m/s in under 3 secs
(of course i have other med slot items too but thats just in case i run into trouble along my way)
oh and lasers so i don't have to carry ammo |

Well, I just use a Dominix for agent missions with a MWD and expanders. Battleship is the way to go for agent missions.
Who said the only use of a Battleship is mining! See, now there are two uses.

I use an osprey to do my lvl 3 missions. I have never been given more cargo than I can take in one run.
Just in case, though, I have an indy here too

I use my Omen in a similar setup rather than a battleship - basically I do agent mission semi-AFK so it doesn't matter what mid-slot items I have, chances are if I bump into an assassin it will be pod time for me. My Omen is completely disposable, should that ever happen, although thankfully it hasn't yet.

i switch between a vigil (3 burners + 3 overdrives = 1500m/s) for the quick small runs
and a scythe cruiser for cargo...ive got more than 700 cargo space and 500 m/s, often i get missions that fill up my cargo space (got something like 10m3 free or so for ammo)

Megathron, 2 Quad Lifs Hardener and XL shield booster, cargo Exps and energized plating, one giant cargo container in my bay so I can fit up to 1950m3 stuff, good for those mine delivery missions tachyons for fights.
0-3500 in 2 sec. NEVER bounced.

For young eager cruiser pilotsb with little cash....
Thorax (better if vexor)
High = 3 med lasers, 2 small ones
Med = MWD x2 + med shield boost
Low = 3 hull mods + 2 Overdrives
1 or two cargo containers.
