Compared to the Wasp II (since it's Caldari), the Gecko has 4 times the structure, 2.34 times the armor and 2 times the shield. In addition, it has almost twice the maximum velocity and 1/3 more orbit velocity. I'm a fan, and using it for all my PvE needs despite the price.

Love 'em. My comparison above was just responding to the durability question. I let the geckos feed and have room for three salvage drones to get started on their job before it's all cleared.

As spiders orbit in your face I still tend to call the Gecko in and deploy lights if I have them. Shame they are going to drop 25% in summer with the interfacing change, we need T2 versions to get our DPS back :D

I have 8 left anyway. Lost one myself in my Rattlesnake earlier today in a Gurista level IV. No big issue as the mission makes about 3 times what a Gecko is worth at current market. You can get them for 10 mill or so at market buy in some regions.
