Well I don't have any idea if this is right but I came up with-
(Just using a raven, and long range torps(yes I know, unguided)) Raven Bonus -10% Cruise and Torpedo Velocity Per lvl
Missile Bombardment-10% Bonus to Maximum flight time per lvl
Missile Projection-10% Bonus to Maximum velocity per lvl
Hardwiring - zainou 'deadeye' zmc1000 5% bonus Max. flight time
Hardwiring - zainou 'deadeye' zml1000 5% Bonus Max velocity
Long Range Torp stats-3750 m/s-25 secs
Regular range is 93km
But,
3750*1.1=4125*1.1=4538*1.1=4991*1.1=5490*1.1=6039 Raven Bonus Only
Now I don't know if missile projection helps with torps, but it says "all missiles" in the database so...
6039*1.1=6643*1.1=7307*1.1=8038*1.1=8842*1.1=9726m/s
9726*1.05=10212m/s
Wow thats fast!
25 secs.
25*1.1=27.5*1.1=30.25*1.1=33.275*1.1=36.6*1.1=40 secs
40*1.05=42 secs
42* 10212 m/s would be an 'unbelievable' 431km,so i must have gone wrong some where right?
I mean I don't even know if missile bombardment and missile projection skills even affect torps. Or do those just affect the ones with the word missile in their name. And same thing for the Raven Bonus and implants.....
But with heavy missiles.....
"Havoc heavy missile" 3750 m/s 10 secs.
speed would come out to same as above=10212
10*1.1=11*1.1-12.1*1.1=13.3*1.1=14.6=16
16*1.05=about 17
so thats... still unbelievable 173 km
And just fyi i am basing all of this on assumptions, heck I dont even know if 10%'s continually multiply by the modified number or by the base number repetitively.
So, if i am horridly wrong..please correct me.
Almost certain im wrong on torps since i dont even think any ship can target that far....

skills don't multiply like mods do.
So lvl 5 bombardment would be * 1.5, lvl 5 projection would be * 1.5 again.
I think the max range for heavy's in a caracal is over 125km, and lights over 50km - but caracal has bonuses for this, it's less in anything else.

The problem is the targetting range. The missiles themselves fly a long distance. Stacking range modules soon gets useless with the stacking rule reducing their effectiveness. But it sure is fun to lob torpedos from 150 km.
Have fun

Oh i see, but wouldn't a raven get just as far as a caracal if not further since it has 10% on velocity for torps and cruise missiles, while cruise missiles travel for 20 secs and same velocity as heavies, and heavy missiles travel for only 10 secs...and obviously caracals cant launch cruises.

Im getting like just at 184km with cruises in Raven..
3750*1.5=5625
5625*1.05=5906
20*1.5=30
30*1.05=31.5
5906*31.5=186,046m

Edited by: Krb686 on 29/05/2006 08:05:15 sry for triple post but...
raven-75km*1.6=120km
but i guess if you had a phoenix.. 115*1.6=184km..
o look just the max. distance for cruises
-oops forgot dread doesnt give velocity bonus

Lot's of strange math here. Here is the correct one:
Cruise Missiles speed: 3.75km/s * 1.5 (missile bombardment) * 1.5 (battleship skills) * 1.05 (implant) = 8.86km/s Cruise Missile flight time: 20sec * 1.5 (missile projection) * 1.05 (implant) = 31.5 sec
Cruise missile range = 279 km, BUT becuse locking range is limted to 250km they won't go more than that. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edited by: Murehk on 29/05/2006 13:19:18 The thing is its that whole thing of you can neva shoot a tortoise (for any of you who haven't heard of this it will be explained). Basically if you shoot a tortoise but the torotise is walking away from you, you will never hit it. This is because by the time the bullet or arrow or laser or whatever has reached where it was it will have walked away a bit. The bullet will carry on to where the tortoise moved to but it will have moved a bit further away again. It basically goes on like this.
Now this obviously doesn't work so don't try it but with missiles where their get up and go after a while decides to get up and go they stop. Therefore something maybe be 50km away but if it is orbiting the missile may have to fly alot further than that (have seen a vidoe of where a player and a torpedo were locked in orbit).
Basically even if something is at he maximum range of you missiles or even inside that range they may still not reach their target.
(Just an explanation rnt quite as stupidly long as they may at first seem)

Range = 209km
Yea I was gonna say I got the exact same thing for the Raven

But how do you get 250km locking in a Raven and 209 in a cerb? The only thing i'm aware of that increases locking is the sensor booster II which adds 60%
You can stack more than 1. You need 3 to get above 250km with a raven, for a cerb 2 are enough for it's max range. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

raven with javalin torps it is possible to get over 330km. as long as you fire the torps while the ship is in lock range the torps will follow it until the run out of flight time. i have killed a vagabond at 320km from me. he was at 200km i launcherd a few vollies at him he moved out to 320km stoped orbiting but left his MWD on. torps hit him and he was dead before he could allign
