I know EVE is all about risk over reward and nothing is ever for free.
But I'm currently in Caladri space and member of a Corp that doesn't seem to be overly active. I'm a miner and wanting to move out of 'bot miner' space (0.8+).
Now I know corps/alliances work hard for their patch of space, but I'm enquiring are there any corps/alliances that allow freelance miners into their teritory without the risk of non-NPC attacks?
I'm not asking for protection from rats (tho it would be a bleasing) just that I could be left to mine.
I'm from Australia so are active during +3 hours before shutdown and +2-3 after restart.
Any information, feedback or flames welcome (please not to many flames tho).
Thanks in advance, Rumbaar

There is a lot of work to be done, but one of the founding principles of CSOL is freelancers called Citizens. Click my sig for more info.

How about joining ANZAC Alliance which is an Aussie/Kiwi corp, based in 0.0 Omist. We are not in an alliance, just friends of Lotka Volterra and rent our home from them. You can mine to your hearts content and be in a corp where your corp mates are online the same time as you. Click on the R under my sig for more info. Convo or evemail me ingame if you are interested.

I've seen the ANZACS and made note of their home world before.
The problem I see is that if I stay in a NPC corp I get to have 0% of my earning taxed, but then I get podded at each and every oportunity by 'spy' paranoids.
Then I want to be freelance but I have to join a corp that takes 10% of my earnings, and any other 'call to arms' (so I've heard).
It seems if you want protection you need to be in a corp, but then you have to do and hang out where they hang out. If you want to be mostly freelance in a corp you wont be where they are at so once again are alone anyways and don't get the benefit of a corp.
Look's like I'll have to do some sole searching. Slow ISK in 0.5+ space fighting off bot miners or moving to a corp region and being reliant on their protection.

Well there's no such thing as a free lunch, you want protection and mates in the same timezone, then you need to give something back. That's life. The 10% tax is used to pay rent bills and also to buy BPOs/BPCs and to manufacture mods and ammunition that are then sold back to members for reduced rates. As for a call to arms, well it depends where you live and the terms. In Omist, we are not obligated to defend the space, but our pvpers do so, and they will tank for the miners. You would, however, be expected to participate in corp mining ops every so often. It's all give and take.

Yeah I said that in my first post, I know nothing is ever free.
So it's really how much you want to take from a corp and if you're in on then it's best to take advantage of that fact as much as you can.
Also another general question, if you're already put in 10% of every transaction why is there a need to put in more on top of that. As a miner it doesn't phase me with a corp mining op, it just seems strange.
Also as a miner I'd be willing to mine directly for most corps as long as they gave me what I needed when I needed in relation to my activities.
I'd like a local more active corp tho :) But would they want me :)

Try mining in syndicate. Goonfleet seem to let every one else use there space without too much opposition so what would one more hurt.

Colossus Technologies, one of the oldest Corps in Eve, are actively recruiting pilots like yourself.
Please contact ElDiabloRojo, CRAZYCOOTER or Zeriko Cailos in game, or join chat channel [CTEC] - Pub for more information!

Thx I'll have to keep and eye out and work out where they are in game and maybe hit them up for some chat before hand.
Thx Leveretz, tho I wasn't looking for recruitment it seems I may have to move to reach a quicker goal.

i'd try Solitude before Syndicate, not quite as good ores as the lowest system is 0.1, but it's generally a friendly area... plus there is are mini hub area(or were) in Pochelympe(sp) and Maire most of the locals are non pirate, but being a NPC region with space from 0.1 up you get all types ----------------------------------------- TCC Diplomatic core + combat pilot talk or shoot, makes no difference to me :) |

Thx Franny.
Well I'm currently not in a NPC corp, but the corp I am in I've only seen one person online. Which at times doesn't help for tanking or anything while I mine, hence I stick to a nice quiet 0.9 Caladri system for the Pyro.
Now a non-hostile area in lower sec space would be nice, like I said I never looked for protection just not to be "Red it's Dead" type of situtation.

I might suggest you check out Phoenix Propulsion Labs.
We're active miners/producers, and we work in deep space. That being said, we don't actively seek out combat, but rather hope to provide the ships to those that do.
If you're looking for a place where you can mine, contribute, and grow with the Corp, PPL may be just the place for you.

I seldom troll through these forums, but this time I did and spotted your post. Elizium beat me to a response, but I am posting anyway because I was exactly in your shoes several months ago.
I ran my own 1-member corp for several months as a contract miner. It does get tedious and boring, and it seemed I was always having to spend more time defending myself from attacks than getting ores into my holds. I tried moving, and I've been in just about every region of Empire space (and a few outside it), but always faced different players or corps doing the exact same thing, keeping me from enjoying the game.
But with Phoenix Propulsion Labs I found not only protection, but breadth and diversity of purpose. Eve has so many choices, and so many different avenues that I thought were closed to me. Here I have opportunities I was never offered, and support that never existed for me before. I now call PPL home, and I'm glad I joined.
