I'm a regular reader of www.eve-pirate.com, Ander usualy has some good stories and there are some occasional blog entries from random pilots which are worth reading.
I've just read a story which, afaic, needs to be told to the full eve community. If you think Macro farmers are bad, it's saddening to hear home some guys make RL $$$ from EVE by laundering stolen credit cards numbers through EVE.
Linkage
So, if you are thinking of buying ISK, you could not just be cheating, but rather helping a criminal and I'd like to think that all of us don't really wanna do that.

After reading your link and hearing of many other RL threats made to fansite hosts for blocking isk seller ads, I feel its only a matter of time before one of those isk-selling scumbags carries out what they're threatening to do. Its a LOT of real-life money involved for them and they'll do anything to preserve that income.
The really sad thing is CCP seem to now turn a blind eye to the parasites that are making a living from their game. Just as long as CCP get paid their monthly sub fees and rake in the cash from game time code sales they don't give a damn anymore.
Just look at the sheer number of macroers and isk-farmers in-game today compared to last year or the year before. And have a look at some of the hundreds of simple solutions put forth by the playerbase to curb a macroers activities - yet CCP won't implement them?... Why?
All CCP do is make it impossible for a trial character to train certian mining skills... WTF? So as long as they're an isk-farming macro miner that pays his subs like everyone else, its ok????
When was the last time you heard any official word from CCP about how many have been banned recently and what they're activily doing about it? They used to keep us informed... not any more.
The lure of almighty $ finally became too strong to resist for CCP.
Banning accounts that are selling virtual money costs CCP real life money. There's your answer

Hundreds of solutions to macro'ers? Even when the problem is as often farmers?
Solutions like little puzzles to answer while your mining - sod off, if I'm mining I wangto pay it as little attention as I can, drag once every 3 minutes while watching tv is fine.
How about you play a little puzzle before you can lock your rats - that'll be fun and stop macro ratters won't it !!

Name a RELIABLE method of detecting an ISK farmer (please note I do NOT say Macro miner, pre-programmed scripts are one section of it but the human factory is still there so its not solely a script that works these characters)

Thanks for all the support. If this person was a swedish citizen I wouldn't be able to threat to reveal his RL address (due to the swedish "Personuppgifts lag", I'd simply go to the police). However it seems to have been a good deterrant or he has simply not read my website.
And yes, I know about the bug with forum. It's related to an Internet Explorer bug when some fields are too wide it pushes the rest of the fields down, far down to the end of other fields on the site. I suggest upgrading to Firefox ;) (if someone has the CSS quickfix, please go ahead and give me some hints. I cant find which specific field. When I fix one of the css fields it seems to work until some other field starts messing up ;P ) www.eve-pirate.com RAWR!11 Sig Hijack!11 - Imaran |

Macrominers/ISK farmers/ISK seller, are here to stay. They are in all mmorpgs, and they will NEVER go away. Get used to them, if you haven't already. So sad, but true. The best thing the honest player-base can do is to try to avoid them, and just enjoy the game. They are like a disease with no cure. You can only try to control them with limited treatment. Peace!

That guy was probably from estonia...
You see, we have two kinds of russians here, the decent ones, and the one that person just had contact with.
The latter ones are annoying, and not only in online games, the problem is much more serious here.

As long as ppl see their "amount of isk" or the expensivest faction ships as their "e peens" or as factor how "Uber" they are supposed to be, for that long there will be farmers to supply that kind of idiots...

In order for isk sellers to be, there must be thousands of isk buyers in Eve. A hundred or so wont be enough to justify it.

I sell ISK, but legally. About 90 million a month, in exchange for the price of one game time code. And I still think ISK sales - including this type - should be banned ... but I have to admit I can't come up with a good way of detecting them all. ________________________________________________

Player petitions suspected macroer/farmer. GM investigates account activity of suspect and acts on what he finds. The End.

The original post sounds like someone wants time card numbers for isk exchanges banned and has made up this 'email correspondant' (hey guys look how bad time card sellers are...). Credit card fraud just doesnt work like this, criminals that steal a credit card, would need to use the card pretty quickly before the owner reports it stolen and its blocked, they wouldnt be using it for lengthy scams involving buying and selling isk and time cards and ebay speculation etc... unless they were very very stupid. They'll steal you card and try and buy a high value item in a jewler store or just get cashback in a retailer.

I am not sure if this is true (probably is!) but someone within the "eve radio" channel, got his fingers burnt by buying isk.... CCP caught up with this and plunged his account 2 billion in the red.

Nobody gives a **** about anything anymore, better yet - they defend this idiocy -- "how does this affect you'; 'it doesn't change the gameplay'; 'just ignore them'. I tell you what - shut the **** up if it doesn't bother you because you started playing postrmr.

Seems the ovbious guess would be RA. For more than the extremely ovbious reasons.
Definately. You think all that complex farming is only to support the alliance and buy fleets of dreadnaughts? They have enough to do that AND to sell. I'd be very happy if CCP would start an inverstigation, seeing as one of the OFFICIAL fanwebsites is used for such activities, FREELY.

Sadly a nasty side effect of the new world. People will often commit crimes vs people of another country knowing they are fairly safe as they are doing it from thier own country. IE someone who lives in IRAN, can be fairly safe knowing that as long as the victim of thier crimes live in the USA the IRAN gov't will do little of anything to assist the USA in prosecuting or arresting them. So they steal and scam innocent american's with the internet and creditcards etc...
Another reason why ISK should not be legal to trade for GTC's it seems :/
