How many people...I am not talking about inactive accounts, or people with more then one account.
One of the post here said 120,000k+ accounts...yet never more then 27k players on line. And some of them are multiple accounts going.
CCP: Can you tell us how many inactive accounts, how many single accounts, and how many multi-accounts.
Would also like to see another blog of the status of Eve-online characters. How many are older then three years, oldest going corp still operating...you know that good stuff you give out once or twice a year.
somthing new would be nice also, How many player owned stations are in 0.0?

120k is the number of active accounts btw.
Having over 1/5th of your entire playerbase logged in at the same time is no mean feat

120k accounts = 120k *active* accounts.
In addition, I would bet that the vast majority of EVE online players have only one account. I mean, I do.

BS...prove it. There is no proof of this number being active accounts, Not with only 1/5 of that amount being on at any given time.
120k accounts sound like ALL accounts made in Eve-online, not the number currently paid and played.

Ok, there's 120,000k+ ACTIVE accounts...And Eve peaks at 27k logged in...Remember that the rest are either asleep, maybe at the Big Mac's, or at work or on holiday etc. ----- <3 |

The devs said so. I'd bet there are far more than 120k accounts, probably at least half a million.
1/5 on at once is a huge number--I've never seen it that high for any MMORPG.

Edited by: Karunel on 31/05/2006 12:29:24 There are 120K active accounts, as the devs have repeatedly said. I think there were an average of 20K trial accounts at any given time [Edit: In those last months, but this is speculation as I don't clearly remember the number], of which a low % went on to became paid subs.
Too bad if you don't like it.

The Devs gave proof on the front page...go look at the graph...see what you see. I see 26k players being the majority of the active accounts. Simple and strieght forward.

1/5 to 1/6 of active accounts being on at peak is perfectly normal for a MMO

26K is the maximum logged in characters at a given time..
Dev said 120K active acounts, you can devide the earth to 3 main timezones, EU/USA/ASIA that mean ~40K at a given time, PCU was 26K this mean in the most poppulated timezone (EU) more than 50% of the active account was logged in, wich is a DAMN GOOD participation level... (well nowdays I never saw les than 10K logged in..)
I do not know why you think 120K is too much... in fact it is too low... WOW have over 2 million..
The BS is that you think Devs lie to us... - POST WITH YOUR MAIN!

That's 26k players logged on at the same time. Not 26k active accounts.

The 120k number being quoted, I suspect, indicates those which are still registered with CCP (trial or still being billed monthly). "Active" is rather ambiguous. I have kept my account with other games but only to chat with friends periodically. I would count those as sporadically active.
For a game older than three years, 120e6 seems a bit low for all accounts that have been created. Lastly, it is highly unlikely that CCP will divulge such information to the public. Cheers!

Lol OP needs educating.....
That graph shows the number of accounts currently playing at the time not the total number of PEOPLE playing the game.
When people say there are 120k accounts that means there are 120k accounts that are active. Now why do we only see 20 odd k accounts online........ You do know about timezones dont you?
Let me puit it this way while im typing right now on the other side of the globe someone is sleeping because its night time. Yea i know amazing concept isant it the earth is a big ball.

1. Like everyone else said, remember about timezones.....
2. You think that those 26k people online on Sunday peaktime are EXACTLY THE SAME 26k that were on last weekend...... !?!
Certainly the current peak doesnt include anyone I know in the game, cos we were all off watching X-men 3 at the time......

Time zones....at one time in the day my corp covers the world.
If there are 120k active accounts, then that 26k number would be higher. The weekend was the most I have ever seen with being a holiday in USA.
I think your all beleaving anything that is said...the graph will stay the same, it will only differ 1-4k below that 27k...never going above it. Now instead of you all flaming me trying to get this thread locked, maybe we can get an OFFICIAL responce?

jesus christ not everyone plays 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
When EVE broke its latest record I wasn't logged on and I'm in the euro timezone. My corp has over 300 people in it and we generally have about 40-50 online at once.

The funny thing is you seem convinced you are right...and the community is wrong + the Devs have a cunning plan to lie to us... if that doesn't strike you as a very very silly basis for your analysis... its ok... you probabl also think ****** ******* is Bush long distant cousin... ebola is the result of alien experimentation in the jungles of africa and Tony Blair is actually on the left of the political spectrum.... we can't help you much :)

27,000 players on at once does not seem like much when you look at games like WoW but then you look at a game like SWG which at peak times is said to only have 200-300 players per server.
I prefer having a larger world with 27k players on at once then individual servers with a couple of hundred.

Very true Big Community = interesting game dynamics.

26,000 online at once out of 120,000 active accounts is a stunningly high number in an MMORPG, ESPECIALLY in one as old as Eve. As the game gets older the people playing settle down to fewer and fewer.
Take World of Warcraft, 6 million active accounts last I checked however they almost never hit 1 million concurrency, and that's a good thing, their servers can't handle it.
A 5/1 ratio for active/peak concurrent is pretty much as high as you're going to find.
