Edited by: Lebraid on 04/06/2006 00:13:19 Another topic of interest is the fact that the stories all seem to describe the Gallente Federation as having the largest population. It's amusing to me personally that the group witht he supposedly largest population could end up having the smallest roleplay group, but in a way this also makes sense. What die-hard roleplay imagines himself in a situation where his character is 'always going to be easy to play'? What die-hard roleplayer thinks the 'shining beacon of freedom & democracy' is going to offer the best roleplaying opportunities?
The answer is usually, not many. Most of the old die-hards I knew (before EVE) always seemed to choose the side that less people would figure on a person choosing, such as the Caldari, or the Amarr. People tend to brand these sort of sovereignties as 'evil', so all the little uber newbies run off and band together behind the freedom flag, and hey, make that a double order of freedom fries because I'm feeling especially magnanimous today. So, the armies of darkness amass behind enemy lines, and while the freedom-lovers are kicking back with a rum and a candy, that huge angry force of death is polishing their celebratory millionth death ray.
I think it's time for the Gallente Federation to find a central cause. Because of the Federation's factionary nature, it's especially susceptible to in-fighting in contrast to the others. While surely anyone in the Federation has the freedom to pursue their own goals freely, how can it be expected to come together effectively with FOURTY-SIX ROLEPLAYERS? Tsktsk, come now.
Even though I myself make fourty-seven, I haven't much to offer yet. I've started a roleplay corporation, but as you know, three weeks of playing isn't enough to get a large, medium, or even small-scale amount of players behind you. At the moment, I only even have one prospective recruit! Well, who knows. Maybe the Federation will do some soul-searching, hopefully quite soon, and discover its latent roleplaying potential.
