Well, I suppose it's that time again, fellow pilots. Another one of us crusty 1stGens is celebrating a calendar milestone. Some fellow Imperial loyalists reminded me of the upcoming 10 year mark for my first dip in the Wetgrave, and the discussion turned to throwing a bit of a party to ring in the occasion.
I considered the idea for a while, and thought...
A bombastic NeoCom thread? Nah.
A big gathering/excuse to drink? Meh.
A competition! Bah, ship combat contests are rather passe these days, and I don't like the idea of skilled midshipmen being at risk for the sake of mirth.
But after some pondering, inspiration eventually struck!
I'm pleased to announce,

THE CARDINAL'S TABLE - Capsuleer Poker Tournament
31 MAY YC116, 1800 Eve Standard Time
Take on your peers in a free-to-enter tourney, with good ISK on the line!
I will be playing as well (but ineligible for the winnings), bust The Cardinal out for money!
FIRST PLACE: 1 Billion ISK
SECOND PLACE: 300 Million ISK
THIRD PLACE: 200 Million ISK
KNOCKOUT PRIZE: 100 Million ISK for eliminating me from the Tourney.
When the Action is settled on the tables, Lady Shalee Lianne has graciously allowed hosting the afterparty at her Grand Cerra Manor on Huola VII [[Channel "Cerra Manor: The Terrace"]] for an evening of revelry and top shelf spirits.
I invite you, pilots, to come and spend an evening out-foxing your opponents with your strategy, daring, and luck at hand!

I would be honored to attend this celebration. 10 years of being a capsuleers is indeed the milestone, moreso because you kept your sanity.

As I am not much of a poker player, and have some other plans that evening scheduled at around the same time, I will have to pass on the tournament itself. However, ten years being small achievement, I will attempt to make an appearance at the after-party.

Gods on high dammit it all to hell we haven't even met for the stupid thing and you're all already jumping on the band wagon to rob me blind. When I ask for an invitation you're all suppose to RETRACT yours! Don't you know it's social suicide to be at an event with me!? The isk isn't worth it! Think of the social!

The afterparty (and the invitation beforehand) was a pleasant surprise, even if the Cardinal himself remained conspicuously absent. I'd hoped to see him receive the gift in person, and particularly see the presentation of the gift other guests provided to the occasion but alas.
Congratulations again, Cardinal. I hope to see you in ten more years and I wonder how you and New Eden will have changed by then? It'll be interesting if nothing else.

I thank you for the organisation of this celebration Cardinal Graelyn. The Poker tournament was enjoyable, and the final duel between Yuan and Priano was thrilling to observe!
The afterparty was also a pleasure to attend, as it enriched my knowledge and education on Amarr culture and knowledge.

As for my distraction, it was planetside, and surprisingly didn't involve capsuleers at all. Very few links to my pre-capsuleer life exist to me. Someone took this opportunity to remind me they do in fact still exist....
