Edited by: Trak Cranker on 01/06/2006 23:50:55 Edited by: Trak Cranker on 01/06/2006 23:50:26 - actually added the link :) Hi All!
Ever since Eve-I went under, I have been missing a start character test/probe/creation tool when I wanted to make hauler alt or what have you.
So I started to make a tool. So far its very simple - you can just imitate the steps in the client character creation. It won't add up the levels for you, but that is ofc coming.
Other coming features: Possibility of asking for the route for maximum level for a skill or attribute(s?). Calculation of resulting skill points.(Less important as I see it?)
Can't really come up with much more - but perhaps you can?
I am far from sure that this is crash proof and I am certain some of you will try your best to break it - and thats very welcome. But bear with me if its not available. :)
So give it a spin! (Most)Input is very much welcome, be it looks or functionality. :)

It's a bit too wide. At 1024*768 I had to scroll sideways. At 1280*960 which I usually run at I didnt have to.
Great tool either way!

Nice, could you make some kind of summary of skill levels and skills?

It now shows the total skills and attributes based on the selection.
Thanks for the feedback. I'll give the layout/sizes another look. Please resize your signature so that it is within the forum rule size limits - Jacques |

I just want to thank you for this Tank Cranker.
It's a wonderful tool and I wish I had discovered it before I started EVE :)
Please add to your dev list:
* The ability to show/hide the output of certain races in the bottom readout * Ability to specify 2 skills, possibly with weightings and tool calculates closest to that. *Ability to allocate your 5 Attribute points

Many thanks again for a very useful tool!

Thank you! I know its not the inevention of the wheel compared to other quite magnificent tools out there, but its not intended to be such either. Does not mean nice words are not welcome. :)

Top two was already in my brain shortlist. Third one will be now.
Thank you for the input!

You might want to take a look at this character creation tool:
http://wium.dk/nw/evetool/
The ability to tweak attribute allocation allows for a better idea of how the character can turn out. As well, the tooltips give you a good idea of the consequences of each choice and compare the choices more easily.
Although your tool does have the "best route" finder. |

Kargon: I was made aware of that tool as late as yesterday, actually. :)
Had I seen that before, I might not have gone through with this. But the main basis for doing it, was actually the feature you point out missing from the other tool. The "best route for .." finder. Still nice though.
I am aware that usability could be enhanced some, but right now adding the pure functionality wins out. :)
I have added "best route for attrib" now too.

You guys!
You haven't tested properly! :)
I found that I missed the base Gunnery, Mining and Spaceship Command skills, that every character gets. They do now show during the character generation.
So now you can actually be shown the path to gunnery 5. :) Please resize your signature so that it is within the forum rule size limits - Jacques |

Thanks again for this great tool. I noticed you're missing the path to Cybernetics ________________________________________ Winning is having a ship to fly home in, everything else is gravy. |

Just out of curiousity, do you think it's possible to have the end result produce a valid character.xml file? I've been toying with the idea of making a 'character starting tool' myself that exports a .xml file you can load into EVEMon so you can determine the optimal character for your plan.
