Originally by: Varia Net I wonder why CCP does not treat newcomers with more care?
I wonder why newcomers, who pay as much per month as veterans, are not given some protection that allows them to grow.
There is such protection, I hear you say.
Lemme recall today's events.
/me was doing a mission (lvl 3, Blokkade) in a Raven.
A player Davlin Lot'ze shows up in a Kestrel, and starts shooting at my target. So, I target him, to show that I don't appreciate his intrusion. I also invite him to a personal convo, without response.
Then he loots a container, and is all red flashing.
/me, upset with this theft, launches missiles at him, to protect MY containers.
In short: if /me (noob) does not fire upon the thief (veteran), the thief will get away with his theft.
His ship gets destroyed, and he flies off in his pod. Justice done?
NO Because EVE says: you killed a thief, hence the thief may kill you. An eye for an eye...
The thief (veteran) comes back in a fully equiped Scorpion (for PVP) and starts warpscrambling, and attacking me with T2 drones and torps. I stand no chance, and see my shields, armor and hull go down with each new second.
A buddy of mine, Drako Krakin, whom I had ganged up with, comes to my rescue, but does not get any killrights. Having his warnings set off, he rushes to my location, to engage the veteran thief, only to get killed by CONCORD. He loses a HAC and precious stuff, worth in total: 550M ISK. No exaggeration.
In short: WHY are veterans treated to a win-win situation in highsec systems? ... Allowed to either loot containers unpunishedly, or get killrights to show up later with a hightech vessel, equiped for PVP, to kill the newbie defending his containers, and loot his ship's modules?
If you've been in a situation like this, contact me. If there's enough of us, we may acutally sue CCP, for not treating all customers alike, by giving the veterans unfair advantages.
Unless CCP takes care of this noob bashing. My suggestion would be: if the aggressor who loots containers, and gets attacked by the owner, changes ship, he should lose his kill rights. Then all the bashing will become impossible.
This game caters to pirates and griefers mate. Not sure why but I guess CCP feels they can make more money by promoting theft and piracy than fair play, even in high security space. Even bounty hunting is rather pointless as there is no effective way of tracking people.
Either way, next time someone steal from your container then do nothing. I know its a pain to see a thief get away from stealing in a high sec system but if you do react then there is a good chance that either he or his friends will come and kill you even though you was just protecting your own stuff.
And for all you people saying the griefer/closet pirate used a valid game mechanism. Do you really think CCP designed the theft flagging so that veteran players can safely kill noobs in high sec system?
No they did not and so that griefer/closet pirate was in fact exploiting a game mechanism to his advantage. The fact that you can petition and get ur ship back because of it more supports this statement.
