wiki.grismar.net has a nice security guide and the best rules of engagement I have seen so far.
What stinking killrights are you talking about? You are talking about criminal flagging, not killrights. The flagging lasts for 15 minutes. The aggrotimer indicates it. Yes, the thief is allowed to fight back, change ships and whatnot - so are you.
Killrights are given for illegal kills in empire space. Losses to criminal flagging are not illegal.
Maybe one day I gonna understand why people attack others before they know about the rules. There aren't that many of them ... In highSec they boil down to 'Do not shoot stuff that is not marked red in the standard overview settings.'. --*=*=*-- Megadon CCP wanted a well known artist and celebrity to test the new font so it's approval would be well known. Totally up to you. But if you decide to fight you have to live with the consequences.
Your HAC piloting friend did turn off the concordokken warning and ignored the fact that your attacked was not flagged as a taget for him and he decided to go concordokken.
A year ago we didn't even have the choice to defend the stuff. All the choices had been either a)'concordokken'+'loot gone' and b)'loot gone'. Personally I prefer todays system because it allows you to decide. --*=*=*-- Megadon CCP wanted a well known artist and celebrity to test the new font so it's approval would be well known. I am new at this, and have only been playing about a month With that out of the way, now for the rest of my post
Having read this thread, there are multiple points of view here, and pretty much all of them are valid.
One thing I cannot determine is..
is the "pirating" player able to attack because of an agression couter? or killrights.
If an agression counter.. then tough cookies.
If its killrights, Then I belive its a bit shady. I am not a dev, but I don't beleive they intended the system to be used in the manner described.
The OP didn't state otherwise, but used the word 'killrights'. If there were killrights flowing around, the 'vet' would have been able to warp in and gank the raven without having to wait to be shot at first.
The 'vet' would not have been able to attack with only grabbing loot from one of the cans. The only visible thing in the OP's post giving the 'vet' the right to attack was the Op's decision to fire at the kestrel. Criminal Flagging + Attack decision + Decision to fight back -> 15 minutes time to fight. --*=*=*-- Megadon CCP wanted a well known artist and celebrity to test the new font so it's approval would be well known. Originally by: Moghydin If it didn't happen to GTC seller, I'd had some sympathy for you.
Umm, selling GTC for Isk is legal. And it helps some pilots to stick around even when they're low on cash.
Originally by: Moghydin You know, the guy who killed you was using some loopholes in game mechanics to get kill-rights on you, even when he was flagged as a thief.
Totally bull****. No loopholes. The thief wasflagged and shot at. This leads to a 15 minutes frame for attacks on both sides.
Originally by: Moghydin IMHO, he should've got no killrights on you at all, as he was the criminal in that situation.
Negative. 15 minutes aggro timer for being attacked and 15 minutes aggro timer for finger in can.
Originally by: Moghydin So, in short, he was very close to exploiting. But so were you with your GTC for ISK business.
Bull**** on all points mentioned in this sentence.
Originally by: Moghydin The thing with sueing just shows that CCP is digging a hole for themselves with GTC selling, ...
The first part is as much bull**** as the second one. They're even unrelated.
Originally by: Moghydin ... when RL money are turned into virtual property which is later destroyed.
So ccp is digging its grave by offering a service for real cash? The Isk ain't falling from the sky because someone buys a GTC. People are working in game for the Isk. ccp gets the cash for the subscription. You know, it is like hiring someone to do something for you. And you probably will have a hard time finding any laws against hiring someone for a task. Every normal job works like that. Someone hires soneone for doing a task so he doesn't have to do it for himself. --*=*=*-- Megadon CCP wanted a well known artist and celebrity to test the new font so it's approval would be well known. That's all loot libertator flagging is about. That practice doesn't even come close to any loop hole. Noone forces you to attack someonewho's flagged for nicking stuff from 'your' cans. Miners and mission runners have been fighting two years to get something like that implemented so they have a chance to fight if they want to. --*=*=*-- Megadon CCP wanted a well known artist and celebrity to test the new font so it's approval would be well known.
