You post was too long to quote Vilar, but a few comments / questions for you.
I find major paradox in your statements:
ôAnd no matter what anyone says, the original 2.5 million isk was an absolute fleecing, the likes of which would have had Techell executives taken to trial if it was in the United States, for example.ö
Miner 2 sales does not equal Medicare fraud.
1. I would be hard pressed to find a company that was taken to trial in the U.S. for being the lowest cost provider of any good or service. In fact US corps get taken to trial for price fixing, ie all other miner 2s seem to sell for about the same amount above techellÆs price.
2. Your statement would make more sense if it was being applied to a NEED, nobody NEEDS miner 2s. Sorry, but its true. They are the best lasers in the game, but you can get along just fine without them. Now if they somehow could control the miner 1 market, that would be different. But then again anyone can make a miner 1
Most manufacturers complain all day about how anyone can make anything, well here we have an item that only a few can make. Now people are playing the ôunbalancedö card. Would you be begging CCP to fix the Miner 2 ôproblemö if you owned a miner 2 BPc??? If you say yes you are missing the point of the game.
Is it true a Miner 2 BP will yield about 40 miner2? So that maybe 250million a day in revenue, not quite:
"They were making over a billion isk a day from miner II sales...that is utterly rediculous. They are so far ahead of the game money wise that it is really pointless for anyone to even try to compete. "
But you really never say who "they" are so maybe you don't mean Techell. Perhaps you meant the other corps that charge more than Techell.
I donÆt think every item should be available to every player. So fine with me if they never drop another miner 2 BP. The only part I can agree with you on is in ôspiritö that basically there is now no other item of equal rarity/power in the game. Ie the Miner 2 of implants or ships or cargo expanders or whatever, but even that is a week argument.
ôI agree that there should be ways for hard-working corps to get ahead of the other corps, such as things like this.ö
Do yourself a favor and check this old thread from way back: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=9359
It seems they worked hard and got ahead way back then, perhaps before you were born? Well before I was born anyway.
Even then the whiners would come out in force and techell was (claimed by them) at market price.
You want to be big, recruit new members, you want to be ôin one the next big thingö um, network get to know people, role play events, and if they get a cool BP that they donÆt wanna deal with maybe they will sell it to you. Or hey just buy/mine and horde all the mega in the game.
There plenty of way to play off of this, but I know whining is easier.
