Yeah, it pretty lame.
Whenever the fighters take damage, recall, lame.
Did some tests myself and they are immune to:
Warp bubbles Warp scramblers Interdictor bubbles
WTF is that?
Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win.

I was under the impression that you can't recall them if they have warped off somewhere. _____________________________

Well lets see, they cost 20m a piece, are not insurable so it's a pure loss, are flying donkeys as far as IQ is concerned and do not mwd back to there carriers.
You want to nerf them even more? - _____

Isn't the whole point of the recall ability to pull them back when they've warped off?

From a technical standpoint, fighters use the same nav AI as concord. But they use normal NPC AI when fighting.
Oh, the things that should say....

You can recall them at any time and if you are further than 150k from them, they will warp away instantly without any time spent aligning etc.
They only warp to you at 15k though, so it still takes ages to actually pull them in because they're S L O W.

To add, you can see what your fighters are up to by watching the drone window. While you can't see their health status when they're out of viewing range, you can see if they're fighting, following a target or returning to you. I find it rather amusing to send them after a target, and watch them switch from Fighting, to Following, to Fighting, to Following, etc. If you see one of them get lost, it's probably a good idea to pull them all back. Just do a Return to Drone bay, and they'll come back. Takes a while though, they don't seem to have the best in-warp speed. Not to mention, as stated above, they take their sweet time mosying back to the drone bay after they warp in to you.
