I just started playing today, and I am not sure I understand mission expiration in it's entireity... The mission info says that I will lose faction standing if I foul it up, I understand that. I know that I have to accept the mission to fail it, lol... But what I don't get is how the offer expires...
Is it a double timer thing? I need to respond to the offer before it expires, and THEN deal with the mission expiring after I accept it?
If that's so, if I let the OFFER expire, will I take a hit to my faction standing because I didn't take the jerk's mission? Or will he just not ever give me a mission again?

If you get offered a mission and you dont accept (i.e. you let the *offer* expire) you won't lose any standing. Not sure why you would wait for an offer to expire though, you can just reject it and you won't lose standings either.
And yes, I think there is a double timer. I.e. you get an offer for a mission. You have now 7 days to accept it. After you accept it, you have another 7 days to finish it. Yes, you will lose the bonus if you take 7 days to finish it but you won't lose standings. This is what people usually do with "Farmable" missions, like Worlds Colide and stuff.

You can reject an OFFER once every 4 hours PER agent, without a standing penalty.

QFT ... Don't go around turning down every single mission offer until you get 4 worlds collide in a row, else you'll be broken back down to l3 agents in no time.

Are you sure about that? I always belived that if you let an offer expire you got a pentaly?
Never tested tho so that isn't based on fact.

In fact, you loose standing if you let the mission offer expire.
Be sure to reject all missions before leaving the vicinity of the agent.
