Apparently, the PS3 is so going to OMGWTFBBQPWN PCs that in a year's time there will be no PC users left, as we can do everything on a PS3 that we can on a PC, only better.
So says Phil Harrison of Sony. Read a bit about it at GSpot (Ugh, I know. Wear a condom for your own protection). For those knowledgeable of all things Deutsch, you can read the full interview at Der Spiegel.

There's no way i'll be buying a console, the new PS3 is ridiculously expensive and considering in a year or 2 there'll be fancy new consoles which will make it completely redundant i'd rather just buy another PC. I can still play Desert Strike on my PC if i want thanks to the wonders of windows built in compatability wizard but i seriously doubt the PS3 will be able to use my old Mega Drive Cartridges. Consoles ftl imho.
Besides i don't trust consoles, my PC is just a typical tower which i could smash to pieces if it ever became sentient and tried to kill me. Consoles on the other hand are looking more and more sleek with each new one, it's just a matter of time before Sony Release the 'Sony T-1' it'll be silver, made of adamantium and have very sharp edges.

What total Tripe . It MAY be true at first when the thing is released but i bet withing 3-6 months PC's will outperform it again...

No **** sherlock, you tyhink hes going to tell you that you can buy a 360 and a wii for the price of one ps3?
Also sony doesnt have exlusive on games such as Final Fantasy and GTA anymore.

IIRC, it's using a modified 6800 for a graphics card... a card that's considered old by PC standards. Consoles never have any hardware better than a PC, ever.

Besides all this talk about it only being a 6800 card - i think most of you are forgetting that these are dedicated game cards. There specifically designed to run with the PS3 or Xbox hardware for optimal performance. I mean the PS2 has i think a 300mhz processor. Id love to see a 300Mhz Pentium running half the games a PS2 can.
A 6800 card in a PS3 is a beast of a machine. Although this may all be a mute point now if what the inquirer says is true.

Complete rubbish. Take a look at the best of what the PS3 has to offer and compare it with Cyrsis. Its clear that the latest titles being produced right now are already outperforming the best of what the PS3 has to offer.
Also take a look at (google-video) Supreme Commander, Crysis, C&C Tiberium Wars (as im sure most of you have already heard about)
Its all properganda by sony, but unfortunatley they underestimated the likes of crytek.

How are you going to replace a pc's functionality without a keyboard and mouse? And on a TV screen, which hi-def or not will not realy work properly with PC software.

To be honest you can design a processer with a much lower clock rating that performs just as well as a processor with a much higher clock rating. AMDs processors traditionaly have a lower clock rating than the equivilent intel processor.
However I cant see how you can suped up 6800 will run anything like a 7800, the bottom line is modified or not its still just a 6800.

a pc isnt made for gaming, a ps2 is. Besides dreamcast outperformed the ps2 in about everyway possible.
