Hi, this is Rina Shanu, running a small pirate, maybe merc corporation, having fun, enjoying the stars..
We, here at TRA have an ongoing war with Dynamic Industries. All nice and dandy.
So after killing a few of their pilots pilot named "alfa" askes for a 1v1 to calm me down and stop killing their "noobs".
I catch a glimps of him and find him in a Tempest. So what do I do ? buy a new ship ? refuse the 1v1 ? Nah.
Quick market search to find 2*6.9 point ECMs.
So I modify my Maller and fit the ECMs.
Fight starts, he's hitting me hard, making me think "oh well, BS vs t1 cruiser..." abd slam, the ECMs start breaking his lock and jamming.... so the tables turn.
I must mention a few of his guys jumped there but this guy was honest and sent them off rather ****ed for their interference even though my little Maller managed to get his Tempest sunk. Cheers mate.
But this is not all, watching us in the belt is this guy in a Domi, who at some point has me targeted, maybe him too out of curiosity. By the time I'm getting the Tempest the Domi pilot who's in a different corp starts hitting and puts his drones on me....
Battle results: Maller intact, one Tempest sunk, one Domi sunk by Concord.
My first BS kill. Smack free, honorable pilot there. Adrenaline rush...
I just love this game.

Good to see that one module isn't overpowered over the rest.GJ anyways mate.

I get your point, but we must get into the specific of the situation:
a) 2* named on the market (6.9s......)
b) it lasted a while and none of us were sure of the outcome....
there were moments where I almost ran out of armor and cap with the repairer on, and a BS sized nos would have killed me...
I also sacrificed the 1600mm plate for a 800mm and 1 gun to fit 1 extra medium NOS which is what kept me alive
The ECMs gave me time to repair the damage until a new wave of damage .. and so on... I'm glad the man had only 1 BS size nos...
Anyways let's not get into a pro/con ECM nerf thingy.
I'm just happy.

I was all ready for a nice valiant fight between a BS and a cruiser that might've been the least bit exciting, then I read ECM.
You killed a ship 1v1 when you had dual racial jammers on him. Big freaking whoop. That's not hard to do.

It's his merit for finding out the race of his opponent's ship before the fight. Good intel wins almost every fight.

I know fighting a tempest 1on1 in a cruiser is a bit much, but isn't jamming in 1on1's frowned upon?

first thing to agree on in 1v1 is "no ecm and no wcs".
that said, good thinking on the OP's part. not forum worthy tho

Fact remains it wouldn't have happened if ecm wasn't so stupidly overpowered though.

It is somewhat analogous to injecting Mike Tyson with general anaesthetic and bragging about how you could beat him up.
But you don't come accross as a tard so good work anyway

nice kill, though i wish ECM wasnt <insert Hippoking's corp's name> in 1v1. IMO only ewar ships sould get to use it with any efficency.
it doesnt make sense thet you can spend a day leveling up the electronic warfare skill and suddenly your blasterthron is now a scorpion
since ECM is already frowned upon in 1v1, then ECM get used for non 1v1 tactics.
like, twisting this example, say a hostile player jumps in a system, the only people at hand are in a maller and blackbird.
the maller pilot gets intel that the hostile is in a tempest, so the BB pilot fits some racial jamemrs and both of them cooperate to take it down.
the fact that a regular frig can keep a BS jammed for a long time is just lame.

I see a lot of screaming about the overpoweredness of EW but I think of it as a good guess on the attackers side and if the BS had guesed his weapons he could have used EW as well and the BS would have won, or as he said, put one more nos on board, but intel and a good guess won the day. Figure you have a 33% chance of picking the right jammer. So you have to know your enemy before you just throw a jammer on board. It is nice however to see people engage in combat and not smack each other, very honorable and I wish more PvP was as friendly as this.

Congrats on the kill Rina , while i frown upton ECm in 1vs1 it's no-ones fault that you used it because it wasn't stated otherwise , not taking anything away from your kill I looked up your corp on Battleclinic for obvious reasons and looking at the mail , i can only say who the hell let that pilot out in a BS  really he'd have been better off in a shuttle.

I always used to think that BS killed Cruisers, and Cruisers killed Frigs, and Frigs completed the circle by really messing up a lone BS's day.
It's actually kinda backward in reality, unless it's close range w/ nos and/or web. Anything out of class web/nos range is backwards though.
Frig tends to kill helpless cruiser if it can sustain the disrupter and there's less than one stab on, and cruiser can do the same dance around BS guns if it stays out of webs and w/ ab running. And of course, intercepter kills anything w/ out a nos, and runs away the rest of the time in small battles w/ midrange accomplices.
Some people point out that I'm not all that good at this game, but on the otherhand, I have all kinds of experience with blowing up, and which ways work faster.
