For a start, their tech 2 ships. All tech 2 stuff has the yellow "II" in the top corner.
Unlucky, anyway, mate.

I feel your pain bro! I also fell for a similar scam awhile back but to a lesser degree ...625mil ouch that hurts! I wish ccp would impliment a code that would make this scam impossible, like changing the color of the item or give you a warning box ...etc I know its a simple matter of checking whatever your trading for, but sometimes you come accross a person who is a little too trusting or green. This game has a pretty steep learning curve. I wish ccp would reconize this and stop rewarding the scammers with such tools. Anyway if theres one thing I did learn it was not to trust anybody and now you probable feel the same way too?

Hello, I'm selling some ships. I got 2x Zealot @ 140 mill each or both at 240 mill. I also have a Cerberus @ 215 mill and a Vagabond @ 190 mill. Or all ships for 560 mill. Intrested?
My reply was yes, he made a few discounts
Emphasis added. Not only did you get scammed, you also have no idea how to haggle if your idea of a discount is paying 625mil instead of 560mil ...

Not all escrow scams are scams....That is the way the isk sellers transfer the isk.
Buyer places any junk item into escrow, names it somthing good, and prices it to match the isk amount he just bought.
Isk seller sees this and "buys" that escrow. Now as far as CCP can tell,(without digging into the codes) its a valid transaction.
As for the OP....never deal 1 on 1 trades unless you know the person....
This is as bad as it can get, but don't bet on it. |

A few months ago I formulated a way of telling legitimate EVE sellers from Scammers. Here, totally free of charge to all tof you is my well kept secret:
If it seems too good to be true......It's NOT true!
In this game more than any, that is a rule to live by.

Edited by: Drizit on 08/06/2006 18:16:31 I've seen a lot of it on Escrow where a deal looks good and it is actually what it says it is (shock, horror). but check the market and you find it's wayyyyyy overpriced. Typical one is set of 8 R.A.M. Tech BPO's for 8 million isk. Not a bad profit margin considering you can buy all 8 off the NPC market in Nonni for 2.5 million.
One who used to do it was a noob and not a very brainy one at that. I bought all 8 from the market and researched them all to ME20 and contacted him. Told him I was selling up cos I was leaving Eve and had seen that he sold RAM BPO sets and would he like to buy a researched set for only 1.5 million. He answered OK, I then put them on Escrow for 15 million just for him and he bought them. I got to scam the scammer.
Jeez, did I get some hate Evemail after that from him.
I notice someone else doing it now, maybe I can get them too.
