Edited by: Leffe on 07/06/2006 12:29:55 Dear managers, directors, CEO's,
We are very proud that we can announce you EveTrack.
For months, we have been programming in php and mysql to deliver you the most comprehensive, in-game tool available today. (at least, that's what we believe :))
EveTrack.com is a complete hosting solution that features an in-game website designed especially to run in the EVE-ONLINE in-game browser.
Our main goal with this website is very simple. Enhancing teamplay, teamwork and promoting communication between corporate members.
EveTrack already has the following in-game features: - Full on-line shopping - Back-end order processing (who produces, who delivers, who escrows, ...) - Fully configurable product catalogue (Tech 1, 2, named, ...) - Fixed or automatic price calculation (using mineral prices, mark-ups, discounts) - POS management (where, what, fuel deadlines) - Task distribution system (private tasks, corporate tasks, individual tasks, ...) - Events management - Announcements on multiple levels - Standings - watches - Advanced access system including statistics - and, an alpha kill board version
...and this is not all. There are new features added on a regular base.
If all of this sounds interesting to you, we invite you to subscribe to the http://forum.mccubed.org/ website in order to browse to our on-line documentation and to subscribe for your instance of EveTrack. You'll get hosting, a unique URL (mycorporation.evetrack.com), support and regular software updates. All of this is available for a subscription fee of 10mil ISK (monthly) or 100mil ISK (yearly). Count between 24 and 48 hours to set you up.
We would also take the opportunity to thank the more than 20 corporations that subscribed already to EveTrack.com for all their valuable input, suggestions and feature requests.
Thank you for your attention.

I just moved parts of our online documentation from our registered forum to our public forum so that you can actually view already some screenshots of in-game evetrack action without registering on our forums.
This can be viewed at http://forum.mccubed.org/.

I'd rather try a non hosted solution - majority of todays web apps are prone to "sharing" of data. Shout if you'd ever go the non-hosted way, it's easy enough to secure a web app for allowed installation somewhere.

Agreed. A managed hosting solution in EVE always makes me suspicious that my data is going to be available to a competitor for a proper fee.

Very good remarks ! I would like to make very clear that all data stored within Evetrack is and will remain confidential. The access system build into Evetrack allows each administrator of each instance of Evetrack who may connect to it. Your data is secure and will remain secure. We are in the process of creating a data privacy agreement that will stipulate very clearly that at all times your data will remain confidential, even for the trial period of evetrack and even if after a few months, you decide to stop your evetrack usage.

Leffe,
I realise your keen on trust, and with such a blond beer name you probably are :-) but when push comes to shove it's a matter of principle. While smaller corporations and groups of pilots distributed over various organisations do not have the exposure to risk ratio, larger ones do. I think that's what the two guys above tried to express.
Yours is an excellent solution, ideal for small / medium low level organisations, but not one larger and more intrinsic organisations would use - as the data is simply not stored on own resources. Complex organisations got enough to worry about, even though a good many of them would seriously benefit from such an integrated solution as yours. Just out of principle they will not risk having the data anywhere else but in their own backyard.
I'd buy your source and a support contract if you'd be up for it :-) That would be an opening :-)

A lot of work has gone into making EveTrack what it is today so a non-hosted solution where we would distribute our source code is a definate no-no (for the moment at least).
But... Saying that, It could be possible for us to allow you to host the database on a remote server.

Well a Bank wouldnt host its financal information off-site...I doubt many large Eve corporations and alliances will do the same.
This capability is sorely needed though in-game. How about CCP buy you guys out?

So compile the source code, most hosts run a Zend varient anyways. (Although I would recomend a cheaper option then Zend =p)

More and more banks and large corporations do outsource their IT infrastructure, including hardware, software and personnel. They do it out of cost reduction and overhead reduction issues. In order to remain competitive in a globalized market, they need to do it.
Offcourse, the level of service is guaranteed in agreements and contracts which can be very extensive (and also expensive).
We know what impact a tool as Evetrack has on a community of pilots. People now know how they have to proceed if they want to buy something, do something, organise something. Just go to evetrack - just follow the link. :)
And this is only the beginning since we are continiously building and adding features that are requested by the user base.

yes but eve is a game and spying is a very big part of it these days(lame in my opinion but its legal). not like in real life where you can sue for trade secret misappropriation and like thousands of other things. theres nothing to keep your intellectual property safe in eve, sadly. -------------------------------------------

This is true when, and usually almost always when, an entity tries to fix an already internal IT process. Then, after analysis, it may be outsourced. Even then, the outsourced IT infrastructure (which is rare, usually just elements of, like e-mail, data security, etc) is still largely under the control (by authority, not micro) and in most cases, still actually owned by the said entity. In addition to this, simply looking at EDS's contracts (no need to explain who EDS is I hope), and you'll find that practically all high security and high risk / technology sensitive areas are almost NEVER under their control. Added to the fact that most would never even take it on due to liabilities (Something you would lack, because all corps in eve are virtual).
So... back to EVE relevance Since most corporations do not have an internal system like this setup, since most have no need to 'outsource' their internal corporate management needs, and since such management tools would contain highly sensitive and discreet information, many will find it difficult to agree to these rights as it stands
Again, license it or sell it is what I would suggest. It'll grow faster, become more popular, and accomplish the goals that you have for it.

Thanks a lot for your contributions. We are going to analyse all of them, discuss them and see with what reasonable solution we can come up with. We appreciate your input a lot especially since there are some very high quality ones among them.
At the moment, we have 32 corporations who are actually configured and using Evetrack at the moment. This makes us very happy (and very proud). Some of them are really digging up all the features of Evetrack. It is clear that Evetrack is a tool and that sometimes the organisational structure of a corporation needs to be fine-tuned to benefit most out of Evetrack structured approach.
So we invite all the others to sign up as well and those who are still a bit reluctant, I would like to invite them as well. After all, what do you have to loose ? You may be seduced by it...maybe :)
And now it is time for barbeque's because the weather is so nice outside that it would be a shame to stay on the inside !
