Originally by: Sosus Red the more I think about it, I really think that having a defense agreement between us Solo players would not be a half arssed idea. We could form an ALliance with our 1 person corps just for the sake of having a mutual channel.
Sound good?
Sounds real good. Might also help later since we all have pretty much the same common needs in the game. Like you get ganked by some a-hole player rat in lowsec and can immediately get a group of PVPers toegther to have a shoot out against them. You may be solo but it doesn't have to mean you haven't got friends. Might make that player rat a little more reluctant to try it again.

Yes, this is an alt, I don't want my RL ocupation haunting me in game. I work for the military, so doing what you're told to do and 'team building' happens to me every day. Last thing I wanted from a game was another 'do as I say, the whole is greater than you, ask not what the Corp can do for you but what you can do for the Corp' lifestyle. So I went solo and stayed there, till I met up with a relaxed bunch of players who got me out of a scrape. Now I'm in a corp whose CEO was in the first corp I joined, it's a relaxed, co-operative family rather than a hard-assed corporate venture. That's the way we like to operate, our members agree, and everyone's happy. When we want to do things together we can, when we want to solo we do. The right corp is out there, it's just a case of looking.

My first MMORG was EQ, and I played a Necromancer. The Necro is EQs best solo character. I was able to play for 4 years and 64 levels most of which was solo. I learned how to rely on the most reliable person around,,, myself.
In EVE I found that the do it yourself approach though difficult is possible. Studying and experimenting to learn the tricks of the game has been very rewarding. I belong to a corp now but still spend about half my time working on my own.
I am much more of an asset to my corp than a liability due to my own ability to take care of myself. I buy my own ships, equipment, skill books. I make my own bookmarks and earn enough ISK along the way to fund my own operation.
Of course I now help my corp mates whenever possible, I donate extra equipment and ISK to the corp. Our corp goes through a lot of ships and modules.
My play schedule puts me on several hours before the rest of the corp so I have a lot of "free time" to do what I want, where I want. I solo and move freely between 0.0 and empire and do just about what ever I want. Once my corp starts to sign on I mosey on over to our station and usually gang up with them.

I played eve solo for about my first 3 1/2 weeks, I had got the game off a demo disk with a 3 day trial and subscribed for a month as the 3 days were just enough to get me interested at the time.
I was still in the State War Academy at the time and deceided that joining a player created corp would help me understand the game better than logging in and immediately closing noob corp chat
Haven't looked back since, flying with friends has got to be the most enjoyable thing you can do in eve whether its gang mining, missions, pvp or whatever you are into solo can be still gratifying but not as much as with wingmen.

Although a member of a corp, it's another one without a tyrant CEO. I solo missions or ratting for isk, to fund my PvP habit. It's nice to be able to call in backup when you get a really tough mission, while having the option to help out the corp in general (mostly weekends). We do have corporate objectives, but there is no YOU MUST DO THIS OR LEAVE bollox. Of course it is expected (but not demanded) that you help out with corp events when you can to keep the whole working as a team thing going, but I enjoy that aspect of the game too. The rest of the time I get to chat with a great bunch of ppl with varying levels of skill in game, and to help out newer players with sensible questions (not the noob corp "lets gang up and take on concord" crap or other siliness that just gets annoying after about 5 milliseconds)
Anyway that's my 0.2 isk, and I'll stop rambling now

Okay so ive been reading the Insta jump thread and it seems the censensus is that BM's need to be done away with. THis again will hurt the player who chooses to play Solo.
If we Soloists want a voice we need to organize. It is already much easier for gankers and CCP will make it easier if we dont let our opinions be heard. EVE is not just for players who are in alliances, EVE is not just for players who are in ganking squads. EVE is for all of us.

Edited by: Christian Ruyt on 10/06/2006 03:54:55 Edited by: Christian Ruyt on 10/06/2006 03:54:27 I have played EVE Online for more than three months now, and I have only played solo. I have thought about finding a corp, but I think I value my freedom too much; I really like being independent.
Currently I'm saving up for a BS, making money from doing level 2 missions are not that entertaining in the long run, but without the BS I don't think that I would really start exploring the universe and visit the low security systems.

Christian...save yourself a world of hurt and do not go exploring low sec space in your brand new battleship. Fly something cheap and fast, or maybe train up covops skills and fly cloaked, but if you go exploring in a BS you're going to lose it.

Funny I thought the soloist channel was the noob corp you started out in. Left my corp about a month ago and have been amazed by the banter in the noob corp chat, and i'll tell you something else there are a lot of experianced players there that want nothing to do with player corps and the politics that goes with it. Try it there are some good people there with tons of experiance in the game but like being independant. -----------------------------------------------

Or maybe I should just stay in the secure systems, low sec isn't really for solo players.

Originally by: Chris Supernova I solo because of the things the op stated and because I found out that alone I can do more things that I like than in a corp. I was in a corp for half a year (since I started playing EVE) and I didnt like that none in there (of the newbies), except me could do anything alone. They all depented on the Corp. I was the only one that managed to build his BS alone and except that build a couple BS more and sell them. All the others took BS from the Corp (Corp Mining). So I didnt have any need of them and I left.
Me and Chris were together in the corp he mentioned above.Things got tricky for many of the players in that corp since our former CEO Symeon falling into his greed and beeing offered access to 0.0 space by some other player named Blue Commando refused to pay attention to any of our needs we individual had that time during our days in the corp.Hence many of us had no choice from either to dumply follow their whil, or to resign adn scater around EVE space to solo.As far as i know now our old corp now has Blue Commando as CEO since he kicked Symeon from the leadership and they delve somewhere to Deklein trying also to recruit many of new players who, as much as i believe, they will realise to what they came into amd leave themselves soon....pretty soon.
Chrish my man i greet you.I am so happy to find that u still play the game.Send me a message will ya? It would be nice hearing from you.
So for those the OP said i love to play alone since that way i am the boss of my own.I set goals i then achieve and if i want a help i got the local!!!!!

I run missions, rat, and generally amuse myself in empire, lo sec, and no sec.
Solo is actually quite a challenge at times, and there's so many channels if I want to chat to someone that not being in a corp doesn't bother me.
As many have said before, I set my own goals and agendas, play when I want, do what I want, and most importantly.....I enjoy myself!!
IT'S ONLY A GAME!!!!!

I solo all the time and just chat in the n00b corp. I play odd hours and can't be bothered with a lot of corps 'requirements' for membership. I do like the idea of Corps and would be interested in joining a decent relaxed corp but I've had my fingers burnt and I'm reluctant to try another one.

I solo alot of the time..... erm, oh wait, I am CEO of my corp... ermmm
Generally we (as a corp) solo most of the time unless someone asks for help to complete a project. Corp assets are used on a borrow and return basis and the assets grow as the corp funds allow (yes I still impose a tax rate on the minions). If, later, some people decide to do a corp project then the backing is there for them to try it out.
I find its not as boring as totally going solo as friends are just a corp chat away to warp in and kill the scrambling frigs if you get stuck. We also learn alot off each other.

A lot of the reason I solo has to do with my experiences with past MMO's rather than EVE in and of itself.
In most other MMO's grouping/guild-ing is a requirement in order to advance past a certain level. My job prevents me from having a consistent schedule where I can set aside time to do things as a group; and I can rarely stay up late enough to finish off a raid or other activity.
I play solo so I can progress at my own rate without having to bend my schedule around other people. It was the whole reason I started EVE; as I wanted a game where I could make excellent progress on my own, and at the same time have a community of people to chat with while I do so. EVE is a rare MMO where you can truly strike out and make it on your own, but you don't have to do so by yourself.

I have played solo for over 2 1/2 years now. I have been in guilds in other games and you never have free time. Always someone wanting somthing, but when you need something............... So I have 2 pcs and several accounts. I mine when I want and run missions when I want. I build my own ships and ammo. I build and sell firgates and cursiers. My life is good.
See CCP. As I told Oveur this summer in Vegas, "don't forget about us solo players, there's lots of us".
Starting to think he did forget about us though.....lol

I'll tell ya why I solo.
Yesterday evening was a prime example. I was in GQ2 in a reasonably sized gang when the FC asks me to go to a gate to snipe someone. So I follow his instructions precisely, warp to planet xxxx, warp to gang member xxx at 80km only to find myself 70km from a frigging vagabond when I drop out of warp. Death warrant. Thanks FC.
That's why I solo. I don't mind losing ships to my own mistakes, but I get really annoyed when someone else causes me to lose my ship. __

I probably play solo for 55-60% of all times. When im playing EVE i usually dual log and attack some roids. Thats a decent way to grab some quick bucks, its peaceful and the only responsibility you have is looking after your own hide.
Thats the way I enjoy it for now.

im a relactively new player but already prefer soloing mainly in DED space - there is plenty of money to be made there ive found and also plenty of loot to be had (and if im honest i do like to hoard a bit), i recently sold and reproceesed half the loot that id been hoarding and found that i had 3.5m of resources and made about 4m in cash (i know small change to most of you old players but a fair bit to lil old me), the best ive managed to solo so far is DED 3 drone infestation using my moa, not many DED 3 pirate missions unfortunately in my area although ive heard they are much harder.....
