Hello to all you space addicts. I am a newb. Really. And I want a Machariel, but can't afford it. And so, as inspired by the one red paperclip scheme, I am offering a single unit tritanium up for trade.
The rules: 1. Must be traded for something with higher value. 2. Object received must be traded for something of higher value. 3. And so on and so fort untill.... MACHARIEL! (assuming of course I have the skills to fly it by then.)
Trader gets their name and home base added to my bio, along with the date.
I don't think this is going to work, so prove me wrong.
I pick up pretty much anywhere in safer space (0.3 and above).
You can post on this forum, but final arrangements are made by mail.
Own a piece of history (and my bio!)
Moagseh, of the corp of the same name.

Wow! My first trade.
1. Tritanium (MSRP 2.00isk) 2. Pyerite (MSRP 8.00isk)
At this rate, estimating a net worth for a Machariel of 1 000 000 000 isk (maybe a wee rich), and assuming all trades will be for something 4x the worth of the traded item(s) (a load of crock, but this is the only information I have to work on, and anyone working in math will tell you this is the best possible extrapolation) and that trades will continue at the current rate of 1/day, I should have a Mach in... 2 weeks (14 trades) (4^14 = 2.7e8; 2.7e8 * 8 = a cool bill (twice, but let's give ourselves a little fudge factor)).
Le you know when I pick it up (and if it's a trap).

If you actually read all of it, thats not how he did it. He didn't bring his dreams to life by making a media spectical. He did it with fair and even trades and focused on attention, and what another person would want. Ones mans trash is anothers treasure.
Simply saying, the trades must increase my wealth, which essentially you just did, you take away what this man tried to accomplish, and turn it into a spectical of attention.
Truely read what he was trying to do, truely grasp the concept of it, and when you do, you will see that your opening argument of, trade must be of higher value, a mochary of what this man tried to achieve.

Ah! My first offendee.
If you look closer at the website, one red papeclip all started as a joke! A bit of fun. Fun. Not serious; fun. A type of low-risk social experiment if you will.
Kyle never expected it to go so far, or to take on such rampant proportions. He did however, hope to make "a series of trades for bigger or better things." It is about value, contrary to what has been stated. In any event, value in EVE can be measured by many very objective yardsticks: MSRP, lowest sell price, highest buy price, average market price... Of course people are interested in the value of the trade. One red paperclip would never gotten as much attention if there wasn't something absolutely incredible and almost impossible by common logic: one red paperclip has turned into (for the moment) a role in a hollywood movie! People are offering crazy things for that role in the movie! But people actually want a role in a movie. No one wants one red paperclip (or one unit tritanium).
When I'm trading off a rifter, then we can talk about one man's trash and another's treasure.
For now, it's all for fun, and I'm not claiming credit for the idea. It's just for fun.

Edited by: Pilk on 10/06/2006 08:26:30 Assuming I can enter it into escrow remotely (er, you CAN do that, right?), I'll offer you a Bantam for that Pyerite.
EVEMail me if you accept.

Now we're talking! A ship! That's got to be useful to someone out there. Who needs a strong and sturdy craft, and an extremely effective mining frigate? But wait! We're going too fast! I haven't picked it up yet. Let you know when I do. And any predictions at this point would be off the charts, given the MSRP difference between the bantam and the pyerite...
So to date: 1. One unit tritanium (08/06/06) 2. One unit pyerite (not yet picked up - Aeaus is MIA) 3. One Caldari mining frigate (10/06/06, Pilk from ???)
Let you know how things pan out!
Moagseh, feeling inspired at this point!

Interresting. Definetely worth something to someone. But not to me. So it's ideal! Well, if anyone relplies to this thread that they'd be interrested in con-artist-U or an instant "that little voice in my head is a pirate", reply to this thread.
I, personally, will never use either of what is proposed. Principles blabla noble blabla not a rat blabla and all that.
By the way, I never (ever ever ever) expected to hit higher than a small armor repper by the end of week 1. I think this is great, even if other interrests are crowding in.

Wow. Tech II already. In my wildest dreams never, ever did I expect. I accept! (mail to you in game). This is great.
It should be easy to find someone who wants a TII rail, right? None on the market (in the forge), rare comodity...
I love it.
This is crazy.

Ah, and real life creeps in.
Kai, with what was definitely the most flashy (and inspiring) trade of the series, goes MIA. And so, since the implant has recently fallen out of escrow, itis back up for trade!
I have a +1 limited memory augmentation implant in gallente space (but that doesn't matter, I'm from Minmatar space and have been through Caldari (21 jumps) and Gallente (22 from Caldari).
Any offers?

This is nuts.
