o/ everybody. I've been flying amarr all of my capsuleers life and i'm starting to feel that amarr doesnt suit my style in pvp. I've been flying frigs to bs's in pvp mostly small gang and i'm starting to hate the tracking of lasers. I've got skills for both t2 shield and armor tank,t2 missile skills so caldari seems a good choice, what do you think of other weapon systems? Any suggestions or tips or observations are really welcome.
Thank you. |

autocannons and blasters have better tracking than lasers, but the tradeoff is shorter range. missiles tend to be generous on the range side, but their damage can be outrun in a quite literal sense.
i would advise you to try all weapon systems in their small versions (frigs, destroyers) and then decide what you like best.

Train all four cruisers up to 2 or 3. Train all five weapon types to low levels.
Bare in mind that specialization in Eve tends to yield diminishing returns, while it's a rather small investment to gain access to all 4 faction hulls and their weapon systems. The different between a badly skilled hull and a fully skilled hull isn't that bad, it takes a comparatively small amount of time, and you gain the flexibility to field the best tool for any given situation.
Versatility before specialization.

All three of the Gallente battleships are excellent in small gang PvP, and training towards Gallente also gives you access to the Astero and Stratios, which are amazing for harassment games. How are your drone skills?
For a small-gang battleship with missiles, look into the Typhoon. It packs a huge punch with rapid heavy missile launchers, and is great at kiting with cruise missiles (if you can get them to apply damage). Training it also gives you the Tempest, which is very versatile with tons of fitting variety and possibilities. I've encountered asteros quite a few times and was beat by them badly since it's hard to predict their fit(at least for me).
My drone skills are great, I think i can fly all combat drones @ t2. I've heard that Ishtars are really badass so i might have to try drone boats. I've heard good things about the tempest. My choice of battleships for pvp is mostly the geddon because i mostly support my fleet with neutgeddon. |

Bare in mind that cruisers are the workhorse of PVP. Battleships by comparison don't get used nearly as much, due to their lack of defensive mobility, and their cost. They're rather easy to get pinned down, and popped on their own, making them less useful unless you're in a group, or have a trap of some sort set up, with an escape plan.
So if you're serious about PVP, then you'll be serious with cruisers. They will tend to take you farther than a battleship will, and they're much faster to train.

As others have suggested, try them all! At least at frig/dessy level.
Using them yourself will also help a lot in 'knowing your enemy', even if you'll eventually settle for a preferred weapon system. |

Actually i'll train atleast all of them to small size. The insight on weapon system pros and cons should be a big help in growing as a pilot. Probably gonna train all races to cruisers as well, might take some time, but i don't have anything better to do right now.
Thanks for all the replies guys. |
