tbh the parrot lovers are not filling me with confidence here. Are ransoms gonna get honoured ? and if they are not are the offenders gonna get got. I've yet to hear about one of these guys getting his comeuppance

What is good to see here, is that most of the pirates aggree this sort of action, (podding after ransom), is not good business.
Renewing my faith, that there is real pirates with values out there.

Just keep posting their names if you become the victim of this. I think its in every smart pirates interest to leave them alone when they pay the ransom. Also, nothing wrong with coming back an hour later and ransoming them again.
I ransomed a mining geddon yesterday for 20 mill. Also planned on ransoming a omen, but he popped to quickly.

So whats the difference between a killer and a pirate according to you? Like in your quote above, "seizes and plunders" is ransoming, not killing. Its not carebear to ask for a ransom. I would say it requires more intelligence asking for a decent ransom than to blow someone up every time.
Its up to you if you want to kill people, but saying that ransoming is carebear'ish is plain wrong in my opinion.
People will pay good ransoms to avoid the trouble of getting together all the modules and a new ship. It takes hours unless they have a backup ship already.
Usually when I remind people of the time they will spend getting a new ship with modules, they prefer to pay the ransom. To me, its either way really. If they choose to get blown up, there are usually a few decent modules to pick up.

as a pirate I am proud to say I have never dishonoured a ransom, I ransom to be paid, if you pay, you live, dishonouring a ransom is the lowest thing a pirate can do imo
