The orca is also in the same training line as the prospect, in the same way the Blops are in the same line of stealth bombers. If a pilot or corp wants to be 100% dedicated to mining only the blops is in another training path. Although I agree, it surely isn't a "need", I just think it makes a bit more of sense to have industrials jumping industrials and combat blops jumping combat blos (like I said, I'm being kind of picky)
I see you point
But a Blops isnt just about combat
I genuinely do know someone who has Cargo Rigs on a Blops, and uses it to jump Blockade Runners and Cov Ops frigs around with his corp to carebear in low and null.
The Blops rats, the Cov Frigs explore and the Runners either set up POSes or haul cargo or deploy Skiffs "A naughty sarcastic nun that's come to whip me with a ruler." - Domanique Altares "If someone doesn't appreciate your presence, make them appreciate your absence." - Anon. |

Actually..... there is a wee bit of merit in the idea of a CIA er Covert Ops Orca.....

But then there would be a deluge of carebear tears over the fact that it doesn't have an ore hold, so... actually, wait, that's even better. MAKE IT SO, CCP! "Help, I'm bored with missions!"

You mean Roqual surely And why? Blops arent that hard to train for I mentioned orca because I think it compares better to a blops BS in both price and training time (although it seems a lot faster to train, I can't check the training time right now) Maybe I'm just being too picky, but I don't see why the only ship capable of jumping mining frigates is a black ops ship, since said frigates are not "black ops" in the same sense. It's not "capable of jumping mining frigates" - it's capable of bridging covert ships, one of which happens to be a mining frigate. It's not the only ship in the game capable of bridging them, either - There are also titans. Why would an orca be able to fit a bridge? I mean, allowing them to fit a cov ops bridge is clearly nonsensical. Nothin' covert about an Orca. And a full-sized bridge wouldn't make much sense, either. Why does every new, amazing thing always need some sort of new, amazing exception to the rest of the game to make it even newer and amazinger? It's a ******* mining ship with a covert ops cloak, how is that not good enough for you?

Fixed your post for you. It can easily be summarized by you asking this question, and me replying: No. Not only does your travel time not make it worth it for you to come to 0.0 and stealth mine, when you would make more isk/hour mining in highsec with a procurer, but in nullsec systems the ore isn't limited. In systems where we mine, it gets upgraded, so the ore sites respawn instantly. In systems where mining doesn't happen, noone gives two s- if the belt gets mined a little.
No wars will happen, because noone cares beyond 'oh hey, a noob, lets kill it' |

I wonder if CCP have any employees who mine or do industry. I'm thinking they don't, because I don't see any miner who doesn't want to lose the will to live using one of these. So this ship is just a passing phase of "obvious bait is obvious". It's not as if it's going to be more useful than existing options for any role. Is it somehow an option for a dual box setup with a cloaked orca in a wormhole? I honestly can't see what possible use it is beyond that which I've stated above. |

Sad part of prospect and attaining supposed rare and valuable ores, is that SCORDITE is almost worth as much, or even more than, the old rare ores such as Arkonor, Bistot, and Crokite.
Let me give you a link to explain.
The rare ores arent even that much more valuable than empire ores these days...
Scord worth around 5.7 m a can, most valuable ore worth around 7m a can (not counting mercoxit)
not really a whole lot to gain there, especially for such a small hold, etc

They might get some use in w-space simply for the 10k gas/ore hold, i.e. those of us who farm gas afk. Maybe some1 with a hard on for gas boosters & access to blop's bridges. |
