I fly solo and ML resides in 0.2 space. I haven't ventured into lowsec in a LONG time and am curious what preventative actions I could take to reduce the chances of losing ships to other players in the area.

I haven't looked in to it but as the only place to get Mordus missions is in low sec i'd imagine it to be camped to hell!

It's not in low. It's not in .2 space. It's in -.2 true sec; Pure Blind along with Sanctuary but mostly CFC:

Mordus Angels have like 5-10 semi active pvpers.One of the biggest carebear alliance living in null NPC.
Haven't been kicked yet because Mordus Legion store was the worst one in nullsec and noone cared to go there. |

It is possible to mission in 5ZXX-K, but it's tricky. Mordu's Angels and the CFC trying to camp you both try and kill neutral missioners.
You need a cloaky nullified T3 cruiser. This will get you to 5ZXX-K easily. Next you need a whole bunch of insta undocks, preferably over 1000 km away.
Mordu's Angels have lots of insta-undocks bookmarked, when you try and use one they will start warping between their instas trying to land on grid with you to figure out which distance you warp to.
Using a T3 cloaky, you can warp and cloak, but beware that Mordus Angels will try and see where you warp to (your cloak may not complete by the time you drop out of warp), and then they seed the spot with cans.
So basically, you need a bunch of insta-undocks and randomly switch between them.
Apart from that, running the actual missions is straightforward. Just don't accept missions in 5ZXX-K, because their combats probes come out thick and often. |

You might be better off finding Mordu's Legion ships in LS belts, and the Besieged Covert Research Facility and the like sites. The Besieged Covert Research Facility seem to stick around a while as they tend to kick people's asses....
