You can read the whole deal by clicking on this link, or I've summed it up for you below;
It is required for members to be logged into teamspeak at all times while in the game so that if someone needs help and calls for it over teamspeak, other members logged in can rush to their aid. Makes perfect sense so far and is something I agree with.
Right now I am playing around 98 hours a week because my allergies are trapping me inside my house. So during those 98 hours a week (+ or - 14 hours) I usually spend about 30 mins on another teamspeak server talking to friends from high school that still play WoW -- once a week. My corp leaders are telling me that I cannot login to play in EVE Online as a member of their corp while talking to my friend on another teamspeak server. They seem to disreguard the fact it is only .0051% of the total time I play during a week that I would not be on their teamspeak server. To top it all off, I only hear about 5-10 mins of conversation a day on the corp server...
What is so different from being on a different server to talk to friends the way I have been for years and those who are logged into this Teamspeak server and the game during nearly all hours and almost always afk, not truly present to respond to a cry for aid as they appear to be? We have alot of those in this corp. So you see 20-25 some people on the TS server with only a good 5-10 people actually present.
I just don't get this line of logic coming from these corp leaders of mine, although I am not sure if there is a logic behind this one.
So I am asking, is every corp this akward about such things?

The only reason you would need to immediatly log on and help someone is because that person sucks in the first place. TBH, I would move on to bigger and better things.

That's a silly policy tbh, voice for whoever wants to chill on it, and for corp ops.

eve is a game. a good % of us take eve very seriously, but in the end you should be here to enjoy yourself (cuz you sure as hell arent getting paid for your time on it). unless this corp offers some ridiculous incentives for you to stick around, then may i suggest you tell them to **** off and die and go join a corp that has some goals that are a little more similar to your own.

Edited by: The Forum on 12/06/2006 20:02:31 Well, to keep it short I am very happy to see that this is not a common mindset or trend within the universe of EVE. Thank you.
So where might a pilot that was willing to buy a second account dedicated to mining and hauling for the corp, a second monitor to play that account at the same time, etc... go to find a better and more enjoyable corp? (any resources would be great)

Is every corp 'akward' about rules like that? Nahh.. I can see the concept of what he's trying to get at as I myself got sick and tired (with old alliances/corporation I used to be in) at screaming and yelling for people to get on TS, especially in combat operations. I can't count the number of times I heard "I don't use teamspeak" or "You can't force me what to do, this is a game I pay money for" and blah blah other typical whiney excuses.
This particular case seems like it's a bit extreme, but in the CEOs defense if you don't like the rules, there's tons of Corporations out there. Find one that suits your style.
Easy Solution.

Well if there is any gangs or fleets going on, I can understand that asking for Voice Comms, and if you're ratting in 0.0 its more for your own safety to be on and hear intel...otherwise though, wtf.

Edited by: The Forum on 12/06/2006 20:56:17 I'm actually working on transfering between colleges and if I were to get a job I would make too much (when combined with the income of my wife) to receive any funding. That and she doesn't want me to get a job so I am actually around.
As for my allergies? I am extremely allergic to some type of pollen here in the northwest that if I am exposed to it for too long (more like 10-15 mins) my eyes will swell shut, I start to sneeze uncontrollably and am not able to stop (ever seen someone sneeze blood? ), and break out in a horrid rash. It lasts around 2 months from May through June, but this year it seems worse and started nearly a month early. After that it's just a normal hay fever I can stand with medications.
But yeah... I don't enjoy going to the hospital for it. My treadmill and computer are my friends during these two months.

Aye,
There are also many people that play EVE from work during the day that cannot use voice comms

To be an effective pvp fighting force
TS/Vent should be Mandatory for all members logged in the game.
There would be exceptions of course. like if your at work or so.
I have kicked members from corps i have been in that refused to use TS.
you may argue against it but the reality is when it comes to pvp the pros greatly outweigh the cons

I don't think it is to much to ask to be on teamspeak, at least to listen. Should you never be allowed to visit with friends on other servers for other games? No. I understand ceo's not wanting thier pilots on other corporation/alliance teamspeaks, its just to easy to let confidential information pass.
I think your case is extreem, but i'm for corporate manditory teamspeak use. It is very useful in a game like eve. Typing can be a hastle and it is faster to have a fleet commander speak an order rather then look down and type.
In most cases you will find that teamspeak is required for corp operations and requested for you to idle when you have time. The reasons are obvious, but if TS is not for you, then there are mnay corps that do not make it manditory.
I think your CEO is trying to force something that is essentially unforcable. Good luck and enjoy your time in eve.

I can't think of the last time anything usefull has been said in my corp TS......and yet it too is required.
You need to remember that most of the ceo's of bigger alliances and corps are not normal people. If they were they wouldn't spend enough time for it to be a job at a game, and play it like a job. The best CEO's will often be over 30, have a very basic or low pressure/status job (or none at all), a low matinance wife/gf/none, and they get to be little napoleon in game because they have the time in the will. As such you will have people making little power trips at times telling you what you have to do, which is quite amusing since the odds are they are taking fry orders or moving boxes when they are at their job.
Ask yourself what your corp offers you that makes your gaming more fun, what your alliance offers, and if its not enough then get out of dodge.

No teamspeak - no gang invite. You are becoming dangerous for your own gang.
If there is no corp ops - and leadership still asking you to sit in teamspeak - tell them to **** off and quit corp.
Easy ?

Not sure which corp your in within your alliance, but you may be hitting closer to home than you even think. No offense to you of course since obviously it's not you.

Ok 1 TS is a must if pvp and doing joint operations real simple.

Do they pay you for your time on the Team speak.. doubt that. Do they pay your subscription for EvE... Alot of people think they own you becouse you are in there corp. Some people just dont get it, as in rl. If you dont like your work, change it for the better. Or tell them what you think of the matter, if they cant listen to it, then they are idi*** or just to young to know how the WORLD goas. I hope that people have more friends in the world then those who paly EvE, I know that I do. Realy if you are log¦d on EvE, while you are on another TS for alittle while. just tell them to " Sit back and enjoy the melody, After all music suite¦s even the savege beast " ___________________________________

Playing 98 hours a week is the most ridiculous thing I think I've heard posted on these forums. That's FOURTEEN hours of Eve a day, or waking up at 10am and playing Eve straight until midnight every single day. Go outside before you become Gollum.
