You can read the whole deal by clicking on this link, or I've summed it up for you below;
It is required for members to be logged into teamspeak at all times while in the game so that if someone needs help and calls for it over teamspeak, other members logged in can rush to their aid. Makes perfect sense so far and is something I agree with.
Right now I am playing around 98 hours a week because my allergies are trapping me inside my house. So during those 98 hours a week (+ or - 14 hours) I usually spend about 30 mins on another teamspeak server talking to friends from high school that still play WoW -- once a week. My corp leaders are telling me that I cannot login to play in EVE Online as a member of their corp while talking to my friend on another teamspeak server. They seem to disreguard the fact it is only .0051% of the total time I play during a week that I would not be on their teamspeak server. To top it all off, I only hear about 5-10 mins of conversation a day on the corp server...
What is so different from being on a different server to talk to friends the way I have been for years and those who are logged into this Teamspeak server and the game during nearly all hours and almost always afk, not truly present to respond to a cry for aid as they appear to be? We have alot of those in this corp. So you see 20-25 some people on the TS server with only a good 5-10 people actually present.
I just don't get this line of logic coming from these corp leaders of mine, although I am not sure if there is a logic behind this one.
So I am asking, is every corp this akward about such things?

Edited by: The Forum on 12/06/2006 20:02:31 Well, to keep it short I am very happy to see that this is not a common mindset or trend within the universe of EVE. Thank you.
So where might a pilot that was willing to buy a second account dedicated to mining and hauling for the corp, a second monitor to play that account at the same time, etc... go to find a better and more enjoyable corp? (any resources would be great)

Edited by: The Forum on 12/06/2006 20:56:17 I'm actually working on transfering between colleges and if I were to get a job I would make too much (when combined with the income of my wife) to receive any funding. That and she doesn't want me to get a job so I am actually around.
As for my allergies? I am extremely allergic to some type of pollen here in the northwest that if I am exposed to it for too long (more like 10-15 mins) my eyes will swell shut, I start to sneeze uncontrollably and am not able to stop (ever seen someone sneeze blood? ), and break out in a horrid rash. It lasts around 2 months from May through June, but this year it seems worse and started nearly a month early. After that it's just a normal hay fever I can stand with medications.
But yeah... I don't enjoy going to the hospital for it. My treadmill and computer are my friends during these two months.

I agree whole heartedly for the uses of TS and I always have TS loaded for the most part, but I'm not always on the same one.

You need to remember that most of the ceo's of bigger alliances and corps are not normal people. If they were they wouldn't spend enough time for it to be a job at a game, and play it like a job. The best CEO's will often be over 30, have a very basic or low pressure/status job (or none at all), a low matinance wife/gf/none, and they get to be little napoleon in game because they have the time in the will. As such you will have people making little power trips at times telling you what you have to do, which is quite amusing since the odds are they are taking fry orders or moving boxes when they are at their job.
Ask yourself what your corp offers you that makes your gaming more fun, what your alliance offers, and if its not enough then get out of dodge.
Not sure which corp your in within your alliance, but you may be hitting closer to home than you even think. No offense to you of course since obviously it's not you.

No teamspeak - no gang invite. You are becoming dangerous for your own gang.
If there is no corp ops - and leadership still asking you to sit in teamspeak - tell them to **** off and quit corp.
Easy ?

1. You are a full time student who play's EVE for 14 hours a day because your wife makes to much money and doesnt want you to work anyway? Does she have a sister?
2. Your allergies sound real nasty. I suggest moving someplace a little less hazardous to your health, perhaps Iceland. Is CCP hiring?
3. If you are in a group opperation then you should be on TS with that group. If not then move to another corp.
1) Yes, butt take my word! Not anything like my wife and you wouldn't like her. She is craaaazy wierd.
2) I've actually thought about it for after I finish my masters degree. Thank goodness it doesn't take me traveling to far from the northwest before my allergies don't bother me. I'm thinkin anywhere but here when I'm out of college!
3)I agree, and I always was on the TS for any op that either I was asked to join for training or requested to join myself. Yea, I quit this morning. I still rather not say who I am since the last guy found to be quitting was listed as KOS by the CEO. Can we say draconian law?

Edited by: The Forum on 14/06/2006 18:49:24 Anyone care to join a corp dictated by draconian law? During my one week with them they had listed someone in the corp as KOS to everyone for simply not messaging a leader when told to. All he said was, "no thanks."
This letter was sent as I was deciding whether or not I truly wanted to quit. So yea... I left for my own safety.

In the end I thiank you all for your helpful advice and encouragement to get myself out of that corp. I feel better already especially knowing that not all corps are directed in this manner. I've learned my lesson and will do a little more research next time. Thanks again.
Happy hunting all and I hope the pictures above gave you some good laughs. I know it gave me a good one, but only after I left.

Looks like you took his advice, and went to find a funner place to be. I certainly wouldn't have stuck around.
Yea, that's him and I sure did follow his advice. I'm sure I'm "KOS forever" now just because I posted his own words on the forums. I didn't twist or edit them, just posted them.
