I think that EVE should be a BB only game, this is because it would allow CCP to incorporate feautres that use up more bandwidth than a dial-up connection can handle. I also think it would help reduce in game lag, becuase I dont think there is a single player that hasnt experienced lag of some sort when interactin with a user who uses dial-up. I dont think this would be much of a problem becuase most people have at least dsl access and if someone can afford to play the game i think they would at least be able to afford a better conection.

At least some form of broadband access is available for 80 to 90% of the us http://www.freepress.net/docs/broadband_report.pdf so I dont think that availability is of major concern, also most of it is realtively cheap with the majority of prices between 30$ and 60$ a month. So if you are lucky (or unlucky) enough be be in the small margin without access you do have a reason to complain, but if you have access and are choosing not to get it, then that should be your own decision that if you dont get it you may not be able to play eve.
Making EVE a broadband only game doesnt mean that evreybody will have to have the fastest connection since the FCC defines brodband as starting at 200KBPS (Kilobytes Per Second, which is a 25Kbyte Per Second max Download Speed). And even if the game were to go to bb it wouldnt necessarily mean that players with slower connections wouldnt be able to play but it would mean that they woulnt be able to experience the game like someone with a faster connection.
I think that the benefit of even doubling the bandwidth used would have a major impact on gameplay, I think it would also remove alot of the lag in the game in general and allow CCP to design or bring back features that would cause lag on a slower connection. Things such as mines or a higher drone limit may be possible to return if eve were broadband only. And there always could be options added into the client that would allow players on low connections to connect faster.

Yes but if EVE upped the bandwidth it uses it would cause less lag with the server

Ok it doesnt seem that we are on the same page here. I am saying that EVE should design for a faster connection so that we can have more features, things are dulled down partially to prevent players on slower connections from getting too much lag, things like mines have been removed and we now have less drones also. I am saying that the standard need to be for a faster connection so we can have things that are more connection intensive. And anyways I dont get lag at stargates, and the only lag i really get is market lag. And I also get lag around massive can feilds.
