Recently I have heard from players in game and players on the forums state that Eve isn't really a game of skill and I felt that something should be said to help these people understand Eve a little better.
Eve is a different kind of game when it comes to skill.
Most games us have to use your reflexes and move fast, dodge, run, hide, ambush... ..All of this is in eve but in a slightly different way as most people are used to.
Eve takes into consideration a persons brain.
When you are sitting in a station looking at the ship you are about to take off with, do you think "that will do", no, you are always trying to squeeze that little extra from the ship.
Eve is about thinking, about planning, about using the brain.
There is a lot of skill that is required within the game, but it is focused else where, its not all down to who can press the buttons faster, who can get behind the other person.
You may have the fastest reactions in the game, but if your ship sux coz you haven't thought about the set-up then you are going down hard and fast.
I have had many friends say to me "IĈm not sure I will like eve, the combat is way too simple"
At this point I will ask them a number of questions such as.. "What are you going to do if you get warp jammed? or target jammed?"
At this point it will get a person thinking and the usual response will be "I dunno"
Of course they don't know, they have only been playing for a short time and haven't even come close to learning the depths of eve.
"You release drones and fire fof missiles if you are target locked"
"You nos the guy until he can't warp jam you anymore or make sure you are fitted with core stabs, or get out of his range and warp out"
Eve has far too much to offer for a new person to understand it all in a short period of time.
This is what makes eve such a good game, you are forever learning new tricks, you are forever adapting and growing.
So to all the new people out there that have doubts about eve having any depth to it, eve have far too much depth for you to imagine now its your job to go out there and find it.
