I¦m playing in windowed mode since I started in late 2003 cuz I couldnt alt+tab out of the game to browse the forums or such. Since then I always have to move the window once I¦m logged in. It looks like this. Any chance that the window is automaticly in the center instead of being abit on the right?

Edited by: Mnengli Noiliffe on 16/06/2006 16:36:13 there is a program, ShiftWindow, it moves the game window so that you don't see any windows elements at all, so it looks exactly like full screen but you can alt+tab without any problems and you can have any other apps over the game. i personally don't use that program as I have written an app for myself long ago that performs various stuff reacting on hotkeys, well to make a window mode game look like full screen you have to call the SetWindowPos windows function for the game window passing the off-screen coordinates...

I play in windowed. But in the same resolution as I use in windows (1600*1200) And It looks like fullscreen (if you move the eve-window as much up as you can) and I can alt tab to bring up other windows on top of eve. Its nice :) ___________________________________________________

I wrote ShiftWindow and am currently writing an EVE Launcher. Will be a very simple program that will detect the game window coming up (the one after the login window) and automatically resize it to a screen you've selected.
It'll have less bells and whistles than ShiftWindow and just have configurable hotkeys for setting EVE back to semi-full screen and swapping it to an off desktop position (boss key, so to speak), as well as switching to a specific client.
It'll allow you to configure it for multiple copies of EVE, assigning different hotkeys for each copy, as well as allowing you to quickly clear the cache, either completely or sparing your settings (prefs.ini, settings folder and ingame browser settings)
If you have any specific wishes for a tool like that, or perhaps if you are experiencing trouble with ShiftWindow you'd like to see fixed in this EVE Launcher, now is the time.
Greetings, Grismar.
(I'm going to double-post this, since I think it deserves top level post attention, but I figured it was relevant to this tread as an answer)

Edited by: Corlan Dashiva on 25/06/2006 09:44:30 Edited by: Corlan Dashiva on 25/06/2006 09:42:09 ive always played in windowed mode and since i use multiple accounts ive always needed it, but in the last few days, when ive been logging in ive been losing the bar at the top of the screen once my char loads into the staiton. i did a rollback to Tues 20/0/06 and im still having the problem. what i want to know is why is it all of a sudden removing the window for around my screen all of a sudden and mimicing fullscreen mode. i want and kind of need the ability to hit the minimized button on the window at the top at times.i can change it on the esc>video screen, but once i alt=tab it reverts back to not showing the top window bar or sides for that matter.
P.S. i play at the same res as my desktop (1152x864, odd size but works for me)
thanks for any help in advance.

Sometimes EVE jumps from windowed to fullscreen mode on its own when there's a lot going on. This causes acute lag deaths. Just switch back to windowed mode by hitting [Alt]-[Return]. --*=*=*--

We haven't had this reported to us, if you'd care to reproduce the situation, with a logserver and sumbit a bug report, we'll look into it.
Its possible you hit alt and then enter for a chat by mistake causing the switching.

Left hand in the WASD area, right hand on the trackball. There is a pretty low chance to hit [Return] or [Enter] that way.
This happens rarely, about once in two months for me. It started around ColdWar iirc but I had a longer time off of EVE around there. As it only happens with loads of stuff going on, as in fights with a couple of ships, effects on, two clients on the box, those 15-25 seconds of complete client redoing the whole optics for fullscreen mode often endanger the ship. Catching it with the logserver is pretty low chance. --*=*=*--
