OK, I am not very good at spaceship violence, but here is a short step-by-step guide on how to shoot stuff in space.
1. Undock. Unfortunately, you cannot shoot baddies from the security of a space station, but maybe CCP will look into this issue in the future.
2. Find enemy. This can be difficult at times. The easiest way is to fly a noobship full of Plexes and constantly announce it in local.
3. Target the enemy. You will have to press some keys for that; I am not entirely sure wich one, so the easiest way is to have auto-target in your game options set to the maximum number of targets. Also helps in disposing of those pesky logis in your gang.
4. When you have the enemy targeted, you should take a deep breath and ask yourself two important questions: a. Have I fitted weapons on my ship? b. Are those weapons loaded? If the answer to either of these questions is "no", please ask for help in local, people will be glad to offer you advice and help.
5. Start shooting until the enemy is dead. Once again, you will have to press some certain keys for that, but repeatedly beating with both fists on your keyboard usually works just as well.
Hope this helps.
I'm just going to walk the Earth. You know, like Caine in Kung Fu: walk from place to place, meet people, get into adventures and die of autoerotic asphyxation in a sleazy Thai hotel room. |

First, go shoot a rat and note in the damage notifications how much damage you do. Keep this in mind, it is important, but also note this is not a constant, just a rough guide line. Now go shoot someone. Note how much shield was removed from their graphic and work out an approximate percentage that was removed. Using your baseline percentage removed from the target and your rough estimate of actual damage done, work out on a sheet of scrap paper how many cycles it will take for you to kill your target and approximately how many hit points they have. Don't forget you have three layers to work through, and nevermind that each layer has different resists and hit points, we're just looking for a rough estimate here. Now mouse over your guns and note your cycle time, multiply your answer by your cycle time and with any luck, your target will be dead by the time you have your answer. It is really hard to change your signature settings |

Don't know about blowing up other peoples ships...but
For me the easiest way to blow my ship up is to activate my weapons on a target... seems to work every time.
The Engineer who looks like a Lord of the rings Orc extra, you know the one I mean right? based at Rens? assures me that the fault is not with the weapons but with the pilot. Meh, what does he know right? |
