So very often we hear about suicide attacks in Juta, but how about Yulai and Oursulaert? I am asking because I will be moving stuff from there soon.

Yulai is basically empty nowadays.
Oursulaert it doesn't happen as often, but don't think you're safe--just don't haul 500 million worth in a ship worth 500k, and you'll be fine.

Thanks, so...
When moving an expensive ships, it's better just to fly the ship (it probably has better defenses) and insure the ship, so if you lose it you can at least get insurance.
When moving expensive modules, fly a ship with better defenses instead of an industrial, if cargo space is not a problem.

Shooting someones ship down in highsec space is the ganking bit, the 100% chance of Concord blowing you up because of your gank is the suicide bit.

Suicide ganking is when a player attacks another player illegally in high sec space (0.5 or higher). The game mechanics makes sure the attacker will surely die (because Concord spawns endlessly). So the attacker eventually dies, thus suicide.
Usually the ship of the player being attacked is destroyed before Concord could intervene. Though the attacker dies, it is possible to salvage the cargo drops from both ships with the help of a buddy or using an alt.
Those who are being suicide ganked in high sec space often suffer great loss, as they were under the illusion that they were safe. And suicide gankers selectively attack cargo ships by first cargo scanning for valuable goods.

A couple related questions:
1. How much of a security hit does one take for killing a ship in high-sec? For killing a pod?
2. Could someone withstand the fire from CONCORD for any length of time (say in a cruiser)? Or is it pretty much they show up and you're dead in a second?
Basically just wondering if someone had a supply of cruisers they didn't mind losing, and they went into a newbie starting system to blast people in rookie ships, how long could they do that before their security rating dropped too low?

-2% and -12.5% respectively, I think. Where the precentage is the percentage of the distance you are from -10.

Well the sentries will kill any battleship in EVE quite quickly, but if you do it at a planet, you can tank CONCORD for maybe 20-30 seconds in a battleship. They do a lot of damage.

They'd probably kill about 10 people. About 2 if they podded.

A fully tanked battleship setup only last about 15 - 20 second from Concord barrage. A cruiser would be less than that. And frigate only take a second or so. ---------

When moving anything of high value (relative to your means) take the time to set up instant jumps and docks. Its basically impossible to get ganked using instant jumps/instant docks in empire.
If its of moderate value and you dont feel the need to worry about instants throw it in a secure container then afk it if you want. Secure containers cant be scanned and they move through empire all the time to and fro mining ops and junk deposits so it takes a relatively brave ganker to just roll the dice to see whats in your secure container. You have to picture it from their perspective they must see secure containers all the time. Whats in yours? is it empty? is it worth it? These sorts of things dont save you in 0.0 because there is no loss for just killing you to find out. But in .5 or higher to see whats in your secure container involves a suicide. Its not my experience that gankers view it as profitable to destroy every ship they see with a secure container.
Now I should mention that generally speaking if your making several indy trips or more taking the time to making instant jumps in a shuttle is usually the same amount of time or less as it would have took you just to run the route straight up each way. (more work but you gain peace of mind).

I always thought the corpses I've seen between Ours and Duripant were from people getting new players to open cargo cans, thereby getting kill rights. Seems that would have a much higher success rate than facing concord's wrath, but then I've never done either.

As far as i know they can, it was true once upon a time not even concorde could scan through the containers but im almost certain its not the case now.

And I assume you can't put containers in containers, because that would lead to infinite amounts of space (IIRC cans have slightly smaller volumes than they do storage space).
So you couldn't double it up and have them just see another can inside that can. And heck even if they did, they'd know what was up. ___________________________________________ http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/3644/jexsigext7zr.png Yarr! signature removed (max size 24000 bytes) - please email us (with the signature URL) if you want to know why - Pirlouit([email protected])

no you cant put containers with in containers (i've tried lol you should too it brings up one of the funny system messeges)
but if your using secure containers and you set a password they will need a hauler to come and pickup whatever you dropped and if your in a 0.7 or below you can anchor the cans and thats it no more stealing
oh and Jex Jast about your sig here's a smaller version for you Here Please download this within 7 days of this post after that it will be gone _______________________________________________

I am a bit confused if it is in a secure container, what good would be picking it up, they can't open it?

thats true, but they can reprocess it, whatever was in it stays intact when you do that.

What's the point then using secure container if the stuff is not secure in them?

A secure container holds more than the space it takes up. In addition, when its anchored, it is secure.

The can is useless i checked it myself with a second account. You dont even see the secure can in the scan so its not even distracting. You just see the contents.
