I think I would be better equipped to handle larger craft if I were able to increase my tank ability. If I drop the afterburner (mostly unnecissary if I'm using an artilery cannon, when considering it's range), the drain on my cap will be much lower, giving me that extra few uses of my small armor repairer.

My fear is that, in a frigate, my DPS is already low and this would lower my firing rate by 4x while only multiplying my damage per round by 2x. Is 1/2 the dps worth the added time I'll have before I run out of Capacitor energy in addition to the extra range I'll gain?

A side thought: Actually, being further away would make it easier to hit me, would it not? And having no AB would mean that I would travel more slowly, yielding far less transversal. Really, it seems like this might nerf my tank just as much as it might add to it, if not more. I would appreciate any thoughts on this.

(quick note: I am not as faimilier as I should with the different projectile types, but as long as I have the autocannon=close range high rof and the artillery=longer range lower rof it still applies)

I think you hit the nail on the head for that one, Ryoko. Often times with a frigate your speed (and your distance) is your life. Orbit close and use higher damage weapons. The closer and faster you are, the harder it is for turrets to even hit you, which in essence just adds to your tank. Unless you can orbit very fast (like some interceptors can do) at an extreme range, the rule of thumb is to get as close a possible while still maintaining close to your max speed. The hope is you won't need to use a repper as much, if at all, during the combat.

Rockets do so much more damage then light missles. Besides, they look cooler, being all spammy. I like rockets. :)

Personally, I am not a big fan of using microwarp drives all the time. The sig radius increase makes you much easier to hit and larger missles will do more damage to you. Those heavies from a caracal that you could just brush off before now do quite a bit of damage!

On the other hand, if you find nosferatus and the like being the biggest problem, then perhaps longer range guns and light missles will do the trick if you can orbit outside their range. I really worry about the extra damage you will be taking though. If you can spare a mid slot, a tracking distrupter can help with that.
