Originally by: DarkElf to be honest with corps like these i wouldn't pay a ransom. they have proven (to me anyway) that they are not to be trusted after a recent incident where they started being friendly in local saying come say hello etc then tried to gank me (including an ex-corp member of mine now in that corp). a failed gank attempt i might add on 3v1.
Excuse me, but just because I'm polite to you in local doesn't mean I'm not going to try to shoot you. Would you rather I just smack you in local and shoot you anyway? Did you miss the part where your guys interupted our raid on a mining op the night before? I fail to see any reason why I shouldn't shoot you.
As for your former member, why should he be exempted from shooting at you? He is in a new corp now and is no longer bound by your policies. We should tell him to go play with himself at a safespot while we fight you? lol...
I give explicit details for how to deal with dishonorable ransomers in both my bio and my corp description. I resent your implications regarding the word of my corp. If a pirate cannot be honorable, they can at least honor their word.

Originally by: Grimwalius d'Antan In my opinion, you're flying a ship you're not ready to use. Maybe you have the skill and experience to use it (judging from your enlightenment as to how to prevent this in the future), but your wallet is obviously not in on the notes. Another thing you should be concerned about is how you were found and killed by pirates at all. How could you let them get so close? Perhaps you need to learn more about low sec and survival before bringing an expensive ship out there?
You're correct in that I dont have the finances to take any losses just yet. In fact my wallet now has just under 5M isk. But I have a new brutix insured and fitted so I can rat and try to make up some money again.
I'm not discouraged in losing, the systems I frequent are usually quiet so I should be able to see an ambush coming. Somehow I did not in this case and I'm not sure what I did wrong.
I have local open and transparent on my left hand of screen so I know who is in the system as soon as it updates. I always check pilot info to see if they are pirates. I did know that the 2 pirates were operating in the area but I figured I could just warp if they showed up in the belt I was in. But I was warp jammed pretty much immediately, I was surprised at how quick I became 'stuck' there.
I've heard people can use the scanner to know when someone is warping in to them so they can warp out before they arrive at the belt. I have no idea how this is done though. Early warning like that would probably be a life saver for me.
Also should say that going back to high sec space just doesnt do it for me. 4 - 9 k isk bounty per kill vs the 100k per kill in low sector is too big a draw. Also the odd dark blood wich is 1.3 M isk bounty. I just cant ever see myself going back to high sec space. too boring.

Small ships like frigs and dessies have a very high scan resolution and you are flying a rather big ship resulting in a very very fast lock on you. So unless you are far out of range so that they can't activate the scrambler you will get a hard time in warping out. =================================

to be honest i shouldn't have mentioned that here i apologise but i wasn't talking about you, you seemed very polite, i was talking about krist who asked if we were friends, locked me and put in local "ooops didn't mean to do that sorry" "do you like my ship" etc and then got u to warp to me and try to gank me. that's what i meant. you did nothing i would not do. If you want to discuss this more feel free to contact me in game. sorry continue with thread
