BIG THANKS to Levin Cavil and Finite Horizon for this one, they have opened thier counter-strike source server for EVE players and eve-gamers. This is a public server where you are all welcome to play, it is hosted in America (location unknown to me) but i have played on this server many times, and being from the UK, its been spot on. (and for all the UK corpmates as well)
There is Mapvote and lots of custom maps to play with, along with the origional maps should you desire them. also feel free to post your comments HERE
The server IP is undertone.org, or 128.6.224.100:27015

im planning to "erect" servers for all major steam games, 1.6 included. but that will tkae time and money, the CS:S server was kindly donated for use by Finite Horizon, so i announced it now.i personally would like a DoD Source server. soon(tm)

You can make car sounds with a live HE grenade in your hand as you run around, if you'd like.

I'm so there, I havn't played CS in a while and I think its about time I brushed up on my skills.
I also reccomend DoD source, its hard but great fun.

Counter-Strike is the one game I can bash to no end and still not feel like a jerk, because I know Im right.
Counter-Strike raised the bar for online FPS gaming in late 1999, but has also locked up alot of players to a game concept that is WAY surpassed by virtually every shooter released since. Don't tell me CS Source is fresh, because it still the same old beaten and outdated concept. Don't try and feed me with the "but just because it is old doesn't mean it is crap" line either, because I know none of you are playing for nostalgia. Im an oldschool gamer in every sense, I grew up with computers since I was 3 years old, so Im not a next-gen fanboy nor a narrow minded dinosaur.
CS 1.0 final was the kiss of death to the project, because once it left beta it stopped evolving. Would you still be playing Eve if the concept was stuck in Second Genesis for all eternity? Most of you wouldn't.

The server is in Jersey.
To all you nay-sayers out there, nobody is forcing you to play. We have a CS:S server because its fun to play. If you disagree please save us both some time and go do something else. My ban key can only take so much abuse.
I have no issues connecting to the server, if you are unable to connect try restarting steam.

We have had issues in the past with Steam's ticketing system so if you are unable to connect try loging out of Steam by going to file -> change user -> logout. Close Steam then log back in.
You might also try enabling the developer console in CS:S by going to options -> keyboard -> advanced and check the "enable developer console" Then push the "~" key (above tab) on your keyboard and in the window that opens type "connect 128.6.224.100:27015" without quotes.
There seems to be some issue with the favorites that is either related to steam or undertone (or both) I will talk to our admin and see if there is anything we can do on our end. Until then connecting through the console should work.

may have to jump on, I've pl-ayed CS:S about 3 times in the last year (apart from testing my maps) so I might be a bit rusty.
but I hvae to admit to liking CS:S much more then CS1.6, but then that might because I can make better maps for it.
