Look at all the amazing improvements CCP has made to Eve with a single release.
- Nebulae
- "V3" ships
- Massively better shadows
- Consistent orientation with respect to stellar objects and their location/scale dependent upon your location
- Four new ships with outstanding art
- Actually looking at blasters (still not buffed enough
)
- Stargates pointing in the direction of operation
- Tons of UI improvements (loot all button!)
- New font!
- And on and on and on!
Clearly this stuff is built upon technologies that were realized over the past three years, but COME ON CCP, think of where the game would be if you had retained your core focus on what Eve is really about- ships in space. The game would be so much further ahead had CCP consistently implemented changes based on player feedback. You guys (CCP) talk about your Agile development, let's see some!
CRUCIBLE is a great start. I'd like to see the next three releases live up to the standard you're currently setting.
P.S.
Eve needs to be brought back to the cold hard ultra harsh environment it once was. Players need to pay for their stupidity in ISK. Lots of it. Eve is going soft and you're not going to have long term player retention of you continue to hold the stupid player's hands and subsidize their ineptitude with continual nerfs to non-consensual PVP. |

I'm outraged at this new direction as well; how dare they learn from their mistakes! "Man, you aren't actually trying to do this, right? Nobody is that stupid right?"

Its amazing what kind of expansion you can get if you devote more than 2 small teams to EVE's development. |

I'd wager most of the subs are in High-sec. So, ya, that is completely stupid that they are catering to their major source of income
That said, it's pretty much the asshats that you have to blame. Ganking is fine until you take it to the extreme, because now instead of pissing off just a small handful; you're pissing off just about everyone in Local.
That (also) said, people should be informed and know that this is a PVP game with PVE tacked on the side unlike most other MMOs, where it's the opposite.
Keep your clone up-to-date and you won't lose anyting that can't be replaced in a few days. |

This. I recall that when an interviewer asked Tuxford how many people he had devoted to balancing he said "none". How does that happen? How can a company like CCP be so incompetent as to not have a large number of people devoted full time to game design and game balance? |

Becuase its a more of a QA thing which works as a whole to destroy eve in every possible angle they could thought they are much more worried about new toys breaking than known good toys collecting dust.

Either way the thousand papercuts (the tinest annoying things in your eve life) is something they can easily address now that most of eve is rewritten. Precarbon era was one of the worst fix cycles for stuff as fixing one thing broke something entirely unrelated. (it would be like your PI activity effecting your spaceship performance sort of breaks)

I know. It's amazing number of people like the OP that don't realize that without the switch to Carbon (WIS code for the haters), all these refinements and bug fixes that are coming in the next expansion would not be happening.
Or maybe OP is just trolling? |

What about all those players that whined, cried, moaned and begged for WIS over those three years? What happen was always going to happen. Don't dwell on the could have been that never was, instead focus on what we have now and will have in the future. Here sanity, nice sanity.....*THWOOK*Got the bastard |

It's amazing what kind of expansion you can get if you (CCP) actually listen to our concerns and suggestions =)
Average EVE player is almost (over?) 30 years old so i don't get why we have been treated like 14 year olds up until fearless.
Sure most of the times we act like 14 year olds.. but some times we show a glimpse of good common sense in the most critical of times, and they were failing to notice. Rated ARG for Pirates. **** you. |

Uhm they been adkowledging all of these annoyances for YEARS and always had express we wish we can fix it but cant without breaking everything.
The rewrite of eve makes it possible to toy with alot of things without destroying the entire game. Which is why majority of the new features are pure content and not polish in the last two years. Like planets and WiS.
Carbonization is basically converting Eve from Phython into C base language. Which increases its 'modular-ability' verses python's interwoven web of reliance. Though it is still plagued by parent child inhertiences that alot of lanagues uses to cut down on size of the program and references at least its to the point now they can fix the solar system map without screwing up the planetary interaction. Or fix walking in stations that doesnt screw with what you're doing at a pos like the old eve language was extremly notorious for.

Pretty sure a good amount of that time was spent designing and implementing Carbon.
We probably wouldn't even be receiving a good amount of features Crucible is coming with if it wasn't for that process. |

Was that time really wasted? Have you seen the Future Vision video? If that video was to become reality... this game will be frickin' awesome! I don't think starting a new MMO (World of Darkness) is the way to go.. but Dust 514 really helps them get some experience before they integrate the real thing to EVE!
What if, instead of waiting for people to undock from the station to be able to kill them, you could just go find them inside the station and settle things mano to mano?
What if you could conquer planets using specialized ground squads instead of just nuking everything to oblivion from your battleship?
What if you could navigate your ship in first person view?
I think the addition of Carbon to EVE is great!
But of course that does not mean they should neglect space. When they are done with Dust 514.. imo 60% of people should be working on space and 40% on carbon. |

I have to agree that never again should WiS should ever take front runner in an expansion feature ever again until space is reasonably 'fixed' in the opionion of many.
This includes making null and low fun.
Hopefull by that time the next front runner of WiS would be *** (walking on planets)
Now if they nibble a bit on every expansion like a new seasons worth of clothes or a new room every expansion I wouldnt mind at all.

Instead of applying WiS as much as possible, I would prefer small portions that are tweaked like what was done with the captain's quarters.
Space should always be the priority, as that's the core game of EVE. |
