Edited by: Tyeson Rai on 20/06/2006 06:33:52 I play two EVE accounts simultaniously on two monitors. The one thing that gets to me the most is those aweful borders from playing in windowed mode. After reading the forums and talking to the many EVE players who also play in windowed mode, it seems to be something that bothers nearly everyone using the windowed mode for whatever reasons. With a game as beautiful as EVE, the last thing people need to see is such ugly borders around their game.
Sure... you can resize your monitor just right to hide the borders, but I would like to ask for something much more simple for all your users who play in windowed mode. Please allow an option for a borderless windowed mode. Just place a check box in the graphics option that appears when windowed mode is active that would allow a user to remove those borders. If you wanted to get real fancy and make it even nicer, make it automatically center the game window when it becomes borderless. Viola, all your many window mode and multi-monitor users are happier!
Sometimes it is the simple things that make people happier.

Well, there is one (or more) applications just for EVE that moves the application just to put the border outside the screen.
However, otherwise it would be quite easy to remove the border using a custom application, but then you couldn't move the application I can't the use for it over the other application.

if there was a way to remove the border but keep all the functionality of windowed mode as it stands now, i'd totally agree. (i hope there is) ---------

There is a ShiftWindow app that does exactly that. As of the window functionality, do you mean drag/resize and minimize? Drag/resize, well what's the point in it if you want full screen? Minimize .. well that's a tricky one. I personally use hotkey app, it issues minimize command to the foreground window when I press configured key combo. Maybe you should too, it's pretty handy. Other than that - you can try to press "Win" key to bring taskbar on screen, then click the EVE app button on taskbar with right mouse button and select minimize. Don't know if this works though as I don't do it this way.

One issue you may find is slowdown of the primary and secondary apps. Overlapping the borders so it is completely hidden offscreen actually places it somewhere. In the case of side by side monitors, if you overlap one to the other you may find issues with slowdown in fps and increased overheads.
It varies with cards, also with the style of 'out' and number of cards. Best to work around this overlap by hiding the window to the none bordered desktop side of each monitor.
I'm sure you're aware of this, but just pointing out to people in general.

The HUGE problem with shiftwindows (which I use) is that when you center it to make the appearance of a fullscreen game, it places the border onto the other monitor. (Using a dual-monitor setup) If you use a dual-monitor setup you know that this will cut your FPS in EVE down to 1/3 of it's potential for both versions of EVE on each monitor. You still have to tweek the settings in shift-windows to allow the border to remain on a single monitor and not be moved onto the secondary one as well as vice-versa for the secondary monitor.
No borders and an auto-centering feature that allows you to check, and un-check, the feature within EVE Online would solve all these hassles and even the need for secondary programs.
EDIT: Just read BH Runner saying this exact same thing. Sorry for the repeat, but it is unfortunately true. Your signature is too large. Please see the Forum Rules for the limits - Serathu ([email protected]) |
