So, I JUST finished filling the jettison can (which still takes me a good bit of time), when It just disapears on me.
No trace of it at all.
I was mining into it steadily, so I dont see why it should disapear.
I also see that reimbursement for that kind of thing won't happen.
Any Idea what happened?
Does that happen often?

Either someone stole it or it popped on its' own. The cans pop after 1 hours - 2 hours it's completely random. -------------------------------------

These cans only exist for one to two hours.
If you are mining into them, you need to periodically make a new one and move your ore into it. A good idea is to rename your can right away with the time that you made it so you can keep track of how long it has been around.

Ahhhhh!
A time-expensive lesson, but I learned for sure. Won't make that mistake twice ><
I was under the impression that the can would pop 1 hour after the LAST item was put into it.
Thanks for the can-switching tip Prant :)

Yeah, sux when you lose ya can like that. What I do is to rename a jetcan with the eve-time so that I know when it is getting close to the hour. Then I make a new one and transfer the ore into that one.

As of current testing....
An un-named jetcan will last roughly 1hour befor it goes pop.
a Named Jetcan will last roughly 2 hours (my last one lasted 1h45min, before I picked it up).
Still though, Its best to either haul after 1 hour from when you made it, or switch the cans around after an hour, just to be safe.

I'll back that up, Jobie.
Un-named pops around 1 hour, and my longest named can lasted 1h 51m before I emptied it.
