PvP ? And heres me thinking it was a Corp Vs Corp game (and all that implies). There is much much more to Corporate warfare than ship to ship combat. Instead of bemoaning the shortage of megacyte or the lag in plain old combat....whine about the lack of economic warfare tools. The sooner the fragfest mentality leaves and the long term strategic thinking takes over the better. There is so much more to conflict than simply having the biggest guns. Incidentally thats not to say "Pirates" do not have a role to play, they do as does every other freelance assasin/merc/explorer or simple homicidal maniac. Your corp is small? no problem....specialize do the jobs the big lazy Corporate "suits" don't wish to do them selves. Judging by the average post on these forums if an economic system of any complexity is ever implemeted correctly, the PvP types will find all their assets bought out from under them by a guy named "Nigel the Accountant" who has never left a station.

Quote: This is so awesome.
The biggest and baddest corp is the one with the most miners/producers/traders.
[stavism] OMG OMG OMG OMG someone wants a mining sim!
 Teh sux0rs! [/stavism]
Thank you for your intelligently thought out response. You have served to reinforce the points I was making I find it ironic that the simplest combat engine ever to grace a "PvP" is the focus of so much passion. If you want 3rd person space combat try the Starfleet Command series. It actually requires some thought and skill.

Lets clear something up right away.I said there is MORE to Corporate warfare, which implies that biggest gun wins is not the only method. I am in fact combat orientated myself. But I like reasons for the fight beyond.."I am a l337 pie-rat.Ph34r me" Re read my post and you'll see its a mindset I believe needs to go...not the combat itself.

First being.Player owned assests are well and dandy, but without an economic structure in place they are just so much eye candy. Secondly no time spent in thought is ever truely wasted Jash had to edit as your post appeared while I was typing....I AM PERSONALLY COMBAT ORIENTATED...loud enough for you This does not mean I am satisfied with the state of the game as it stands.Corporate warfare operates on many levels,Up to and including someone buying "airtime" on the billboard in your home system advertising prices undercutting your own. lets just quit the damn crusade against anyone who wants more than just PvP shall we And where did I say anything about getting rid of of non-consentual combat...oh! thats right I didn't

Sorry Jash, but this situation is a goddamned greek tragedy....
I seek out PvP with pirates ,Its my job, for an alliance that I shall not name. I'm no superstar and I rarely post on the forums, so I'm sure 99.9% of the forums "posting machines" have never heard of me. But I find it incredibly rich that you are trying to tell me that I'm anti-pvp.. I fail to understand how and where and from which orifice you dragged that idea.....hell i've been podded by various pirates mainly the better known ones (also have a quite attractive corpse collection of my own). So go read the post in full and then stop think and quit the knee jerk reaction to any post that doesn't state "PvP is everything this game should be and if thats not your opinion your a carebear" Its getting old its a hand overplayed and its also no where near the truth..
Thank you for your attention span short as it appears to be

Edited by: EdCase on 28/09/2003 03:50:11 Edited by: EdCase on 28/09/2003 03:48:08 Hmmm intersting point there Jash. The one where your telling me that its best to keep the game simple. If you truely believe that, and the rest of the playerbase is in agreement,it makes the outlook for Eve rather bleak yes? With regards to the attention span,if your your first comments were not a response to the topic at hand...why post them at all? Maybe the simplicity of the game getting to you as well? (no animosity here, just an attempt to lighten the tone )
A small add -on..just a personal opinion though. If "they" cannot handle a game with simplest of economic structures then they will cease to play.On the other hand without those structures those that wish for more than simply a "gunfight" will grow stale and bored and leave. Which way it will go i know not,but I find nothing wrong with desiring it to be more than it is.
