For those who don't know CONCORD is/was (depends on when you will read this) after the 20-Jun-2006 not responding to aggression in safe space. Of course people took the opertunity to kill as many new players and unsuspecting others as posible.
But is this the biggest goof up from CCP side so far? (not counting the beta's of course)
------------------------------------------- Should you disagree with me, well I guess that is because I disagree with you. If you have a problem with that please feel free not to tell me. |

Not even close. This hardly even registers on the CCP goofup-o-meter.
Honestly, they must try harder with the next patch, this was a bit of an anticlimax.

The general mission stealth nerf in this very patch was much worse. Welcome to alliance slavery, kiddies!!

To say that Concord was not responding to criminal acts is wrong, I tested it a couple of times after I heard the rumours and for me Concord functioned exactly how it should have done. Obviously this was not the case everywhere but I think you're completely over-exaggerating the situation. --------------

Just because CCP poorly implemented a system of gate-based PvP and station-hugging doesn't mean that the entire idea of open PvP is bad.

Edited by: Plutoinum on 21/06/2006 13:18:29 In another now locked thread someone called CCP retards for introducing the bug and banning people who abused it.
Imho you could also call the people retards, who abuse this bug to kill newbies. It was obvious that it's a bug, because CCP will never disable concorde without a warning. It was also obvious that the GMs would never tolerate such behaviour.
What did these people, who abused it, expect ? If that's not retarded then at least immature !
I think I need to be really drunk to abuse something like this without seeing the upcoming trouble.

Fixed, checked on sizes, and will make another sig more suited to EVE later.
Noted, killing in high sec areas is a no no, I'll be nice to the carebears.

I remember the old days real well, no that was not the rage, or at least it lasted shorter then the last "empire attack"
And there were not that many people playing back then to be honest...Max on line was just under 5k at one time. And the goal was 10k.
Those were the days, of camping jumpin points...no sentry guns...and you came in at a planet or moon, not gate. No sentry guns under 0.5. And you could take on and win against concord....

Hey still taunt the Carebears if you like, just use the normal methods and don't exploit CONCORDs donut break.

This exploit is also (without giving away info) coupled to another bug today which people apparently have been making fair money off of.
CCP's biggest mistake? No, its Quality Assurance's biggest mistake - tbh, this is one of several large screwups they've made this last year, perhaps they should start to think about replacing some personnel there as things obviously aren't working well.

Thats funny i remember seeing it with my own eyes.
Ohh and numbers 'did' go down in the first few months reguardless of what you claim. It was when i first joined running at just over 6k (hell i even remember a dev joining our newb corp chat saying grats on the record) sadly the number halfed by christmas.... mostly due to the crapheads doing nothing but attempting to ruin peoples days through lack of a decent player protection service relating to sec level (concord) and like you mention (jump in point camping) that shamefull method where you were mostly killed before your screen had a chance to load in because the 'talented' figured out that dumping a ton of crap in space worked wonders:/

Could you be any more craven? Branding people you've never met as incompetent, from a position of very little knowledge?
Go get a soul.

p.s. go CCP! I design distributed systems for a living, and I know that what you do is right out there on the bleeding edge. It just blows me away :)

I judge people I can't meet by their results - QA's responsibility is to make sure patches are suitable for TQ, and they simply continue to fail.

i remember the two for one bug. Apparantly you could buy 1 of an item on the market and get 2. I think i got a skillbook double that way, only after i figured out what was going on the server had to reboot and i think we have a rollback then ? Can't remember anymore.
But the petition system is by far the worst mistake.
